Guys,
I've been trying to optimize my rates for quite some time now. I can't seem to get it right.
Can you save me the pain and let me know what the optimum rates should be or at least point me in the right direction so I can get there myself?
I'm on a standard 512k line (2mb down 256 (or whatever) up).
Thanks in advance..
NF
For my old 512 I've used:
Rate "15000"
cl_updaterate 81
cl_cmdrate 81
Now on my faster connection:
Rate "20000"
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101
It's not an exact science.
If you're getting a decent ping then 20000 should be fine.
Match it with a cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate of 101
If you need to tweak it down then try reducing Rate in steps of 200 and the other two by 20.
Thanks Guys..
N00b question:
On the netgraph it shows the FPS as well as an "in" and "out" number. What do these represent?
If it's not Choke and Lag(?) how do I get these figures.
Cheers!
try using netgraph 3, if i remember right that'll show the info your after.
indeed, choke and lag are under net_graph 3 ... which is also just text so doesn't use many resources (though maybe it was just my old old pc that used to drop in framerate if I used net_graph 1
Bit more info about rates:
