Title: DPS in PvE
Post by: Keltor on June 04, 2006, 10:48:01 AM
I recently aquired the MH
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51839 (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51839)

and may respec to fury when I get the OH
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51408 (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51408)

But I dunno if I wanna?!?! The purpose of this is to output the highest amount of dps I can in dungeons and raids BUT will fury spec be an improvement in dps over my arms build and current weap (DoW)? U guys might say "test it out and if it works than keep that spec" but I pay craploads of cash to unlearn talents since I have already done it like 20 billion times before, therefore I wanna respec as little as possible.

The fury build I'm looking at will be very similar to this guy who also influenced me to go DW (take out 1 HS point and Anger Management for Imp Charge and maybe 1 point off DW specialization for Piercing Howl)

What to do?!?!

O and just a question which has nothing to do with this topic, which would look better? Zin'rokh or DW these? ><

Second question is easy, Dual Hakkari Blade looks awesome! B) Much better than Zin'rokh imho. Only when a small gnome has Zin'rokh does it get close to looking as good as dual Hakkari.

Not many suggestions here in order to help me decide but its ok..I took the risk and chose fury (with help of Dajo's advice) and plan to keep it like this for a very long time..it outdps arms by a mile.

Which talents did you pick Keltor? Just the same as Kargath?

I've considered going Dual aswell, and you kinda convinced me to do so after our talk during MC  :)
I've checked a couple of talenttrees I think I would make mine a bit like this (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warrior/talents.html?0230502030200000000505010450501205100000000000000000)

Not sure about the two points in Overpower.. Might put em in Imp. execute, but im not sure? And for pvp Piercing Howl is a very nice talent to have, but for PvE I guess it aint that important..
I think Im gonna miss MS if I respec but I suppose imp. HS would do the trick when dual-wielding?

And btw Keltor.. your Allakhzam profile is wacked.. somit is wrong for sure

Nefertem I just checkd my profile and it seems to be working fine. Try again:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?1345264 (http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?1345264)

Me and the guy from Kargath have exactly the same points in the fury section but in arms, he maxed out Tactical Mystery, HS and strangely Anger Management whereas I chose Imp. Charge and Imp. Overpower.
When I'm fury...I almost always be in berserker stance therefore maxing out Tactical Mystery is not needed and I can easily pile up rage again. Putting 3 points in Tactical should be enough if you wanna change to Def stance to Sunder, Shield Block immediately or whatever.
Imp Overpower is nice because if you are having trouble with Flurry to kick in, Overpower will most often do the trick and once Flurry is up, it will stay up 80% of the time as long as you have good crit chance.
HS is definately not the way to go because you will take aggro especially with a 1.5 speed weapon. Just spam Bloodthirst and when there are no sheeps around, Whirlwind.
It seems you build has a lil something to do with PvP. If not, throw away Imp. Intercept and get Imp. Execute. Feels good to swipe a mob for 600 (over 1k crit) damage every 1 sec :D

Shame I didn't look on here sooner, having relatively respecced from almost pure fury to 31/20 arms fury which i'm guessing is about the opposite of what you did. Waht I found in fury is that, with high crit I was permanently in flurry (+30% attackspeed), it was a damn fun build and I really enjoyed it. dps seems comparable to what I'm doing now on average with UTB, the difference being now and then with current spec I can get higher peaks. of course when i was dual  wielding it was either with 2 eskandhars or with bloodlords defender and brutality blade (esks right claw proc is +speed too) with crusader on one and lifesteal on the other, along with warlords trinket, there was enough healing to make up for the lost armour.

basically,
prot: dull but very useful (meat shield)
arms: useful, fun, steady (warrior)
fury: mad spinnyfun and then you die (who needs rogues?)

Probably one of the best PvE dps builds would be something like 20/31 (2 handed fury), gear depending and weapon depending. Just hit BT when its up, whirlwind and improved slam as a rage dump. Try to keep flurry up too, if you spam hamstring until its up, you can pretty much keep it up for any fight, all of the time, which gives you a nice increase in dps. Never tried it as its more of a PvE build and i've recently just been pvping and prefer my arms/fury for that at the moment, if I got into RG1 though, I would probs spec fury, but meh :P

There is a pretty nice thread about 2h vs dw fury specs on the azsune forum. http://aszune.xsa.ch/forum_posts.asp?TID=5177&PN=2. This might be worth checking out. Aqueous in particular has some usefull comments.
