Title: New Racing Game
Post by: A Twig on June 04, 2006, 04:09:49 PM
Trackmania ESWC  (http://www.esworldcup.com/2006/?act=document_info&id_document=39)

Just downloading it now, will give it a whirl and let y'all know what its like. As a completely free game though it could be fun. Looks quite arcadey which probably wont be quite some much the cup of tea of some of you petrol heads!

It has been a while since I last tried it, but imho it was not that good. The controls were very arcade-like and the tracks ditto. But seems like stuff has happened since then... Keep us posted!

Definitely arcadey and not for the racing simmers among you, but still great great fun. Especially as its free, worth the download just for the occasional blast!

heh, had a go, much like the old trackmania with new, um, track features?

One weird thing - at home I got a message/warning popup that "frontline pro" had been installed and I needed to reboot before playing this new trackmania !? It's a demo, there is no CD ... did it install more annoyanceware on my PC like GTL?

I read on the teletext almost 2 years back now that Geoff Crammond was working on a next gen version of it, next gen as in PS2, Xbox etc. I've heard sod all about it since then though, shame.
There's a couple versions of Stunt car racer you can download, the only vers I could get to work though was the C64 one which was awful. I'm sure someone must have the amiga vers up n' running.

solved the unable to conenct hing in this too - damn firewall on the router itself that I set up to prevent p2p traffic during gaming hours... so if you have no problem viewing servers in TMN but cannot connect and get error 10061 chances are it's a port being blocked...

Another game to look at, if you are up for some manual tweaking and such, it Racer, //www.racerl.nl.

The handling is good, but problem is everybody can make cars and you have no idea how real they are. But if you stick to the good cars you are somewhat safe. There are tons of tracks and cars available.

It's now http://www.racer.nl/ (http://www.racer.nl/)

Bit worried about this though: These Racer downloads are UNSUPPORTED (well, not that Racer itself is really supported in that sense). Download and try at your own risk. Keep a copy of your old files if things don't work out.

That basically means that if you can't get a car to work or such, then don't come back to him. I seriously doubt the game will f.. eh.. mess anything up.

Thanks for that. Just don't wanna spend another 60 quid on getting my registry fixed.
I'll give it a try soon.

Just a warning.

Despite there being no CD with this Trackmania game, it still comes shipped with Starforce. If this bothers you, obviously don't download/install the game. Sorry for not picking this up before...
