Post by: Dewey on June 07, 2006, 10:05:04 AM
Hi guys, I've just d/l all the standalone skins from the No grip site.

If I install these will you guys be able to see them? I hope so coz theres some cracking skins out there and they add a bit of variety.

I also d/l all the tracts all 40+ of them....  :dribble:

Huuuuuge tracts of land!

For others to see the skins they'd have to download them. There was talk of people having their own skins so you can tell who was who and to have a bit more of a laugh, but the complexity of creating the skins and then making sure everyone downloaded them curtailed this. It doesn't seem possible to have them on the server and it downloading them to players a la CS sprays.

Ooops, tracks  :D  Thats a real shame, it would make it very cool if we could all customise our own cars  :(

Yeah that would be cool. Only solution would be to release a package once a month or so, which would be the official skins patch. There will still not be more cars than those in game. So if there for instance is 8 minis there would be 8 diff. mini skins to choose from.

We can add more cars (the server has one extra car I made as a test, which you can get here on the forum) but that would require everyone else to download these as well and install. Besides, those who do not have the package wont be able to join properly since they are missing the cars...

If these problems could be solved it would be great. It would enable us to have a car with our own skin and name, and we could have a dmw theme with our names on our cars.. But it would be nice to have newcomers drop by

Being an LFS fanboy some time ago, I made loads of skins and enjoyed it. Skin sharing in LFS is automatic and so a no brainer. In relation to GTL it's a waste of time (sorry del) The only way for new skins in my book is for 10tacle to release a patch which everyone will have. Besides, it's the racing that counts (or is it the tobacco?)

Your right doorman, my creative side however wants to create my own colour schemes for my cars, but pointless if everyone else can't see them.

Ah well, the saved time will be put towards driving practise.  :)
