Title: Psychometric tests
Post by: smite on June 21, 2006, 10:42:13 AM
Does anyone have access to one of these tests?

Not sure if there are many managers or HR related people on here but if you can get hold of one of these tests i would be grateful.

Cheers

Mick

LOL Aye thats about right :D

I am currently slightly fedup of my job but not sure what to look for.

I have been in this job for 13 years and before that a painter & decorator. I don't fancy either of these jobs again and wanted some way of finding out what i am better suited for so i have some direction to head in.

With some direction i can get my finger out my TANGO and get moving :D

Dear god, dont use a psychometric test for that. My mate did one. It said he should be a vet, and he's allergic to all types of fur!

A twig is funny ;)

Smite, I have been exposed to a few of those and really, they are not worth it IMHO. Also, they are not that relevant in your case in my opinion.

First - Cognitive/personality tests are supposed to say something about you as a person mentally. So job-wise I don't think they would help that much. Instead, think of something that you like to do and go for a job with that. If you get that job you will be happy doing it, motivated, good at it and something the employer would want to keep.

Also, when you do such tests you very often end up with a result that you, in overall, knew in advance, but could be off in details. So, if you focus on one of these details you could end up thinking you are fx. moderate introvert when you in fact are moderately extrovert etc.

My 2 ører.

Edit: if course if such a test shows you as fx. introvert you would probably not want a job as a receptionist dealing with people all day etc. so some guideline there might be.

Rule 1:  Don't live to work - always work to live!

Look on your job as something that will allow you to do the things you want.

Bouncer at a topless nightclub should just about cover everything    :roflmao:

They said I should be a:

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0e78'

Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.

/careers_final/results.asp, line 189

Whatever that is.
