Title: Online racing
Post by: Dr_Danger on June 22, 2006, 12:12:59 PM
Hi Guys,
Played GPL for long time and had GTL since the day of release but never had time to get properly into it. Now I have a bit more time and I thought I'll try it online. It turned out very bad, ever time I joined some server there was some idiot going the other way on the track and hitting people for fun and even if it wasnt it is way to common to get bumped by someone straight away and not finish even one lap. I have read on Racesimcentral that this is all too common these days and the only way is to join a league.
So I was wondering if I can join you guys for a race sometimes. What is the server adress? Do I need a password etc?

c. Get on our server around 8pm tonight and, if possible, join our Ventrilo server so that we can answer any of your questions far more readily.

Oh and 'Welcome'. :D

The IP does not seem to be there    sorry. Maybe because the simple solution is to simply fire up the game and in the multiplayer browser look for a server named "-=[dmw]=- Dead Men Racing" or something along the lines of that. Usually quite near the top.

Thursdays at 8, as OB says, is by far the best evening, but there is some activity just about every evening.

Hello, you will enjoy it here, they are a decent bunch and the racing is good.  I should be around this evening.  Do get Ventrilo set up as well, it makes things much easier to sort out.

Welcome. Leagues is one way to go racing but it's a bit of a commitment. Now the dMw way is LOADS better. See ya on track. Don't forget to check out the Tracks on server (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14490) thread. If you don't have a track //www.no-grip.net will see you right.

Having a chat with your opponent is so much more fun.
You'll get to know eachother a bit more and before you know it you'll be seeing eachother face to face at a -=[dMw]=-LAN  8)

Was great fun last night. But clearly I need to get Ventrilo set up. Sorry for my terribly slow times and constant going off the track. It's my first force feedback wheel, had a Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel before. Maybe the settings need to be tweaked, just can't seem to get used to it. Even my once mighty GPL times are absolutely terrible.
Well, practice and practice again.

Tell us more about your wheel (make/model etc) - I'm sure some of the guys here will be able to offer some pointers :D

It probably didn't help that I careered off the start across the grid cutting you up.

For once I got a good start and had to swerve to avoid 'Driving Miss Daisy' in front of me.

Oh and sorry to Deetz for the collision. Then sorry to I think, Deetz and Oldie for coming back on track as they came past. I was staying well off the line I thought so I guess next time I'll stay on the grass ;)

This is for a DFP so you'll not have the degrees of rotation bit.
If you set you wheel like this in either windows or the Logitech Profiler, you'll be getting what the game physics provide. Which I'm pretty well convinced are just about spot on.

As for the racing last night......It was, for me, a good mixture of seething with either myself (Misano, out braked myself whilst have a good battle with James) or with someone else who gave me a love-tap whilst having a good battle with.....er, I forget. All in all, the usual high standard of fun/competition. Luv it, luv it, luv it!

  I gave you one love-tap last night on Silverstone. Sorry but I think driving after a whole bottle of wine is probably not a good idea. It's your cute little buns Ron I just can't resist them  :dribble:
