Dead Men Walking

I'm in the midst of a degree course and recently e-mailed my course leader some info on something or other. It appears I was not in his e-mail address book because he now seems to have added me to his distribution list. I now get all kinds of fun stuff that he sends out to his stoodents.

A week ago I received this e-mail

I and a couple of mates took exception to the assumption that all university students are opposed to a war with Iraq. My views on the subject are irrelevant but to make such a sweeping statement was bang out of order. So we decided to turn up and argue for a war, out of bloody mindedness and to make a point.

After the speaker did his thing and several Lecturers and Students made anti war statements, my friend began a passionate plea for war. He began to site all the stock arguments for action, i.e. non compliance, war crimes, track record etc etc.

After about thirty seconds he was shouted down and told that

"You, by virtue of being a Postgrad, are part of the intellectual elite. It's inconceivable that an intelligent person could approve of war. You're only here to be a nuisance and to interfere with important discussion...please leave."

So we walked out.

To help lessen my rage I'm making a plea to any CS map makers out there.

I need.

1. An terrorist escape map based on a University campus.
2. All the terrorists should be skinned as sandal wearing beardy lecturers.
3. There should be no actual escape points.
4. The Terrorists (lecturers) should be unarmed.
5. The CT skin (me) should be in the likeness of Saddam.
6. The Shotgun and HE grenades should be the only weapons avaliable to the CT.
7. As this is only being used on my PC with PodBot, some nice waypoints that have the T's rushing wildly about in terror would be nice.

Help me please   :(

You win arguements better if you can compromise and trick people into thinking you're sort of talking for their point, but gradually ease the point over to the other view, or maybe just against the first one :)

I find it amazing that someone supposedly with brains cant see the danger, the suffering and the economic risk with a nut case in charge of iraq.

Also the french are trying to prevent invasion to cover up the evidence of their supply of rocket fuel/tec to the camel jockies.......

I'm amazed people have forgotten so quickly what happened the last time a little supposedly inconsiquential tin-pot dictator was left to his own devices.

The problem is the dictator and his puppets not the Iraqi people. If an attack begins it is the people who will suffer not the dictator. If there was an easy solution to the problem we (world cummunity) wouldn't be discussing this at all. Still Hussein is a ruthless SOB but the Iraqi ppl do not need to be punished for that. Hussein is doing a great job of that allready ...

Just my pennies worth, but I don't think this one is going to go anything like the '91 war.

Wait and see how many Iraqi generals keep their troops in their barracks come the 'big off'. I'm sure the CIA have made guarantees to these officers that they won't be disarmed, fired upon, bombed or asked to sign humiliating surrender documents when the USA/UK take control, as long as they stay put. They'll also probably get to play a significant role in the 'New Iraq' too.

Iraqi soldiers may be many things, but they're not idiots. They got their heads kicked in once, I don't see them stepping up to get clobbered a second time.

As to the above comments with a slightly pro war leaning......well according to 99% of those that came to the university meeting, you're all psychotic war obsessed neanderthals, who love playing blood soaked games of murder and death, so you're opinions are worthless too  :wink:

If at some time in the distant future, when I have earned my proverbial spurs, there are any bits of the forum that need a moderator, then I've installed and run a phpBB set up myself.
