Quote[PC] You'll be hanging off the ceiling in this gravity-defying shooter
Words: Justin Towell

Thursday 22 June 2006
For those of you with a hankering for some gravity-defying, portal-hopping action, Human Head has released a demo of its forthcoming first-person shooter Prey for free PC download. 360 gamers will soon get a taste of the action, too, with the download heading to Xbox Live Marketplace "soon after the PC release," says co-publisher 3D Realms.

The game is certainly a twist on the genre, with a bewildering 'walk up walls' feature that lets you reach apparently inaccessible areas with a quick disregard for the laws of physics. But be sure to remember you can't do it in real life - you'll look a fool.

Cheers for the heads-up Hippy!

I must say that I really enjoyed that demo. It's like that Riddick game, in that it's come in under my radar, I can't recall seeing much hype about it. If the final game remains true to the demo, it'll be a quality product.

The spirit walking stuff adds a new twist. The wall walking is a tad confusing at first, but works really well in-game. The other bonus is it runs quite nicely on my middle-of-the-road Athlon XP/6800GT rig. I think I might have to buy it!  :)

Well, i've just finished the demo. I was impressed. If they can keep that up for the whole game it'll be the best Doom 3 engine-d game that's come out so far, and while a lot of the levels could be equally at home in either Doom 3 or Quake 4, the sequences with Tommy's grandfather show that the engine can do bright and airy cheerful visuals just as well.

The bit with the mini-asteroid was just cool :D

Talking of that game a $500 million dollar contract has been rumoured to have been made with 3d realms to finish it off. We will have to see when it comes out if it is any good :).

I heard there's a guy a couple of streets from me who has tried it 8)

I played the demo and it was different for 5 minutes but once you've flipped the flors around a few times it becomes just another draggy old FPS

I find prey quite an entertaining game though a bit short and fairly easy. But it gave me a lot of fun playing it.
Like i said its not the longest of games (which FPS is?) but its great to just blow of some steam now and then and that turning around the walls is pretty funny(they made good use of it in game). So my bet would be nice game but try to rent it or something first, Due to short playing time.

Took'em only 11 years to finish it ... one would have hoped for a slightly better product after all that time.

this is so true
i bought it because it was only 5 euro
the graphics is very good, but the game is just boring.
i played it for one hour at most
its not worth to spend more time with it and you shouldnt buy it

I quite like the game personally, it's actually compatible too unlike F.E.A.R!
