Title: Me happy...

Just got my new 7800 GS from BB. Had a quick test before leaving, I installed the card and latest drivers and took a quick fly in the heli on the dMw server.

Only one thing. I tried 1280x1024 high detail 2xAA on my nForce2/Athlon 3000+/1,25GB system and I got quite a lot of jitter - even though the fps counter showed stuff like 96/33 when flying over the construction site. How does that counter read? Is it like current/average? Is it just me wanting too much?  ;)

the jitter'll be the rest of your system, not the graphics card. Go through all the steps to streamline the BF2 install. It's probably either ram or audio I'd imagine...

...oh, or motherboard drivers (particularly check the agp ones ;))

Info shown on screen is current and average FPS. Playing at 1600x1200 with 4xAF I get about 85 current and an average of 10 to 20. However, it never jerks or stutters with those figures so they could be absolute rubbish :D

Have you tried using FRAPS instead of the ingame measurement? 96/33 ipretty good figures so try the optimisation stuff I sent in the PM to see if that helps :D

Nearly 'wot he said' Actually you can set it for app controlled because some games benefit, i.e. Live For Speed, from vertical synch on. But BF2 and GTL, V synch should be off.

I also have a 7800GS and you can throw pretty much anything at it. Every game I have is set for the full 9 yards

Disabling v-sync made sense on a TFT and that helped a bit. All the "stutter" I get now is when the disk loads a bit, so I guess I need more RAM, defragging etc. to solve that...
