Title: Oops, need backup
Post by: DuVeL on June 25, 2006, 12:46:20 PM
Ehrm, gaming and beer= big oops, was playing CZ on the BoDserver and hit the bottle against my comp.
Cleaned it directly and was working fine still, then I've restarted it and it was starting up but it keeps making 3 beeps now. No display though.
Any suggestions?

I know, don't drink and play...

Check graphics card slot isn't affected (3 beeps is usually but not always graphics related) - is it possible some of the beer could have got into the graphics card slot? Might do to pull out card and check slot/connector - pulling out card and reinserting it may be enough to clean it TBH.

Done that.
First it was lodaing up again (as I could hear), after that still no screen, I've restarted the computer and now it starting beeping again. :(
I'll call my comp friend now if he can fix it...

Do you have another monitor you can try? That will let you know if it is the monitor or something else at fault.

Check your graphicscard and your memory.

make sure everything inside your pc is clean.

And next time when somethin like that happens then never turn your pc on. First clean it from the inside and make sure everything is fine before you turn your pc back on.

I did that Ice. I turned it off asap, cleaned it an started it up. Typo in the first part.

I'll now check with another monitor as my m8 can only check it tomorrow.

depends what the beer might have gotten into/onto - hopefully just needs a wipe.

I'd check all connections on the board where the beer may have dripped. Unplug, wipe with a cloth, and reinsert all the various cards, memory, etc that might have had beer on them - might be shorting something out. Check for any drips on the motherboard/boards that may been affected too. Hopefully just a case of wipe it off and everything will be fine!

...how much beer got in there!?
