Mine works fine. Could it be a problem with sound drivers or OS? I use WinXP with SB Audigy and can happily swap between programs and CS is fine with sound

Happened to me too, until some kind sole (I forget who) suggested that when you return to CS and there is no sound, just escape to the CS options screen and then press resume. Sound should come back.

Pressing escape twice usually works for me (without the need to reconnect).

I found that if you could see the HL task on the taskbar that if you right clicked it and went 'Restore' that it would come back with sound, bit hard as depending on resolutions you use you cant always see the damn thing down there.

Title: help again
Post by: A Twig on March 18, 2003, 08:41:24 PM
I also have no sound but tis slightly more drastic/wierd.

I start up CS, and have no sound at all, not even on menus, however, if I try to connect to a server and it fails, I then get sound all everything.

Then I get onto a server, playin merrily away for about 30 secs then I lose all sound again.

I have tried switching between hi and low quality sound and CD audio. And I really dont want to re-install CS again!

Any other suggestions?

mars if u dont use coms you are missing out on a large (fun) part of pcs.....it can be the differance between getting the team to work well or not

if you dont use them bind a few ready to use radio commands...need backup....taking fire ect and play with a set of headphones so you can hear the coms....if you cant hear what people are saying then you are not going to be working as a team ...You miss out on the team play and its frustrating for other players needing your help :smash:

lol - another victim of my fiendishly devilish TANGO filter  :D

Mars, unplug the speakers and plug in some headphones.  Then just use the commands menu - we all used to manage that way - or just type quickly....

As has already been said, having no mic is bad for your game as you cannot properly operate with your team mates, but being unable to hear your team mates as well is likely to get you kicked as people might think you are just ignoring them!  E.g. I almost kicked you the other night as you were 'apparently' ignoring the team plan for several rounds, no matter what I said!  It was only then, after on screen warnings, that you typed up that you had no sound AT ALL.  The message is simple:

You HAVE to wear headphones to hear your team mates!

See you in the MeatHook later  :D

Have you made your config read only? you'll need to take that off before installing scripts.
