Just a short follow-up question to Claw's comment: do you (the Officers) check with the person mentioned as sponsor (and perhaps also "others I know in guild") that the applicant actually knows them? And have asked them to be sponsors?
Cause I've gotten the impression sometimes that when applicants list up sponsors (and also people in guild), it seems enough to them that they only have spoken to them once. I got a question from a guy one time about what our web site was, and after 2 minutes I got another question if I wanted to be his sponsor...
I hope people don't say yes to that.
I thoughs this was a "safe" application to post my question, since it's Vargen that's mentioned as sponsor, so that way I probably won't step on anybodys toes :)
i havent been asked wether or not i was for real the sponsor of the applicant, but i always made sure to post in his application thread, wether or not my sponsorship was for real. and also throwing my 2 cents at him.
Sorry for getting off track.
The answer is not always. The thread tends to be a clue. Where lots of people know the person then less checking is done. Where nobody seems ot know him then we tend to check.
