I played on Xbox live for the first time the other day, just to try it out, i found it really enjoyable. I played PGR3 with some guys, being a complete noob I came last on most of the races.
The thing i ound enjoyable was that these guys really enjoyed playing. A mile a way from the '1337 cs kidz' that you found on the public CS servers.
They came up with some interesting 'games', explained the rules before we started playing them in the lobby making sure everyone understood the rules and had the right car.
One was called cat and mouse. The server was split into 2 teams of 3, one person from each team chooses a Class E car (slowest) while the other 2 team members choose class A cars (fastest). The way to win is to get your teams class E over the line first by ANY means possible. That means you can push your class E along the straights using a class A or use your class A to chase down the other teams class E and slow it down.
Another game was last man standing, everyone starts the race with Class Es. The person who finishes last on the first race gets a class A for the next race, they then have to slow down the fastest class E. The same happens until there is one class E left then that person wins.
Maybe I just ended up in a chatty friendly group but this was a very enjoyable way to learn to 'race'.
