Post made by myselfs, not officers, that said here goes:
SoG have now been part of the dMw community for 4 months and with dMw's support SoG have been able to:
- Host and manage much more effectively our rapidly growing forums
- Avoid the need for mass advertising banners to pay for our bandwidth
- Host our own dedicted Teamspeak Server without bandwidth or membership restrictions
- Host our own DKP systems (avoiding the problems of the Russian site dropping off-air from time to time)
- Implement new raid management systems as needed by the Officers (attendance, raid sign ups etc)
- Following the upgrade to the forums (scheduled for Saturday 8th July) we will be able to gain much more control over a web content to support our forums.
- We've also had access to the rest of the forums (the public bits that we can see).
One of the hopes of both SoG and dMw before the move to the dMw community was that we would benefit from each other's content and presence. We have a lot of gaming experience (not just in WoW) to offer and dMw have a wealth of experience too.
With this in mind it is more then slightly disappointing to see that so few members have ventured outside the WoW section into the wider community forums. At times i think its only me, and TL.
I would like to encourage all members to venture out and participate in the wider dMw community. Both SoG and dMw will benefit from your appearance in the open part of the forums as it will discourage the potential "them & us" opinions and encourage the "we're all part of the same community" feelings.
Go on, risk it, live a little and go read something outside the WoW section and contribute to the threads! Its not like the other dMw bite!
A small selection of forums that might interest you all:
Banter (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showforum=3)
Hardware / Software help (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showforum=31)
Jokes (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showforum=26)
But dont stick to these alone, there are also lots of other nice forums out there waiting for you to discover! The general overview is here (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?act=idx)
It would be real nice to see some SoGers venture out, blinking, into the bright light that infuses the realm that is dMw.
Translation Why not get involved a bit more ;)
TL.
It's really simple - at least for me. It's nothing more than a time issue. As it is now, I spend quite a lot of time browsing, reading and posting in our own forums. I do drop by the other dMw zones some rare time (just look who made dMw change their logo (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14822) 8)), but it mostly depends on how much spare time I have - and most of the time I doesn't have that much :(
World? Outside WoW? Have you started a joke thread here?
