Gotta love this thread about playing a Paladin. Very objective and has many good comments about life as a Paladin. Also a good reference discussing gear etc

I liked the part with the enchant guide - really nice overview of what's available and worth having, not only for paladins

About that, I came to think about a post I made on our old old SOG forums:
QuoteI followed this link (http://www.worldofwar.net/articles/pig14.php) from the official WOW web pages, and I'd have to say that it's worth reading. It's maybe a bit long, but if you have some time to spare, you won't regret.
I'm not gonna state my opinions on those matters that are mentioned in the "novel", but I shure had some good laughs
And here are some teasers for you:
QuoteHigh upon Mount Blizzard reside the three gods. They are known to us as Lord Pearce the Jovial, Lord Adham the Insightful, and Lord Morhaime the Rocker. Upon this holy mount the three deities of all of Azeroth dwell in peace and splendor. That is, until recently.
One day the three deities called to their presence their most trusted advisor, the archproducer Pardo, to discuss the upcoming changes to their universe.
Quote"Pardo, do you hear the great din, rising up to our ears? It rises from Azeroth below, and of late has endlessly disturbed our peace and splendor. Remind us, what is this great ruckus?" asked Lord Pearce. (...)
"It is the whining of the paladins, my lords," uttered a humble Pardo.
"And who are these ‘paladins’ of whom you speak? Are they not our favorite and most blessed servants? Have we not given them the most sought-after gifts? Are they not nigh-upon-indestructible?" asked an incredulous Pearce.
"Indeed they are, noble Lord Pearce," said Pardo. "They are the most gifted, and most highly favored, of all your servants."
"More blessed and favored than even the uber mages?" asked Lord Pearce.
"Yes, my lord. More favored than even the mages," said Pardo, quietly. (...)
"And what of the overpowered shaman? Surely, the paladins must pale by comparison to this lordly class?" asked Lord Pearce, who covered a smirk with his mighty hand.
"Ah, the gods joke with me," answered Pardo wisely. "You’ve both told me many times how shaman are just overrated."
Quote"Yet you express surprise at our decision, knowing that we favor the paladins above all others," stated Lord Pierce. "Why were you so astounded?"
Pardo thought carefully before speaking. "Let us look at the documents I have brought, noble lords," he suggested.
"Very well."
Pardo grasped a sheaf of papers and glanced them over. "How about this: they have plate armor, and their defensive abilities with bucklers, tarqs, and shields is far greater than that of any other class. They can block most anything. With this alone, paladins can survive better than anyone else."
"Interesting point," said Lord Pearce, clearly not convinced. "Go on."
"They also have high powered, virtually uninterruptible heals. These are far better than any ‘hybrid’ class has a right to expect," said Pardo.
Morhaime waved his hand impatiently. "Yes, yes, very interesting."
"Combine these facts with their three â€" three! -- impenetrable magical shields, and they can survive far, far more than any class in the game," said Pardo.
"Yes, their shields are powerful," said Morhaime, smiling. "Since we love the paladins so much, it pleased us to give them such powerful shields."
"They are beyond overpowered, my lords! My lords, there is nothing in the game that compares to this power. Nothing. The three shields on very short, unlinked timers. This makes them ready to use virtually all the time. And the shields make paladins immune to everything," said Pardo. "No one else has it so good."
Quote"There is even a zoologist in Arizona that trained five monkeys to play paladins. He taught the monkeys to do three things â€" push auto-attack, activate their shields, and use a simple, self-healing macro. The monkeys all got to level 60 in less than three weeks," Pardo argued.
"Monkeys got to level 60, did you say?" asked Pearce.
"Trained Monkeys," said Morhaime to his friend.
"Yes, monkeys my lords. He was trying to prove that it takes virtually no skill whatsoever to play a paladin. He even has them PvPing now."
"It’s not true that paladins have no skill, Pardo. Their skill in using the /report function to complain about other players is unparalleled," said Adham.
"Very true," said a smiling Lord Morhaime. "They are also very skilled at calling for nerfs to the other classes."
Pardo spoke. "I don’t think those things could really be called skills my lords…"
The three gods appeared lost in thought.
"Oh, perhaps you’re right. Did you say that the monkeys are PvPing? What a hoot!" stated an amused Adham. "They have no where near the skill of a human. They must suck."
"One of them is now high warlord on his server," said Pardo. "The zoologist appears to have proven his point, noble lords."
I was especially humored by that fourth qoute - the one about the monkeys :roflmao:
But don't forget to read the whole story (http://www.worldofwar.net/articles/pig14.php) - it's well worth it
