lo all,
I don't know if this is the right place, but it is a "serious" matter...
An Israeli soldier was kidnapped a couple of weeks ago, then ealry this week another two were kidnapped and 4 were killed, all within the Israeli border as approved by the UN, all by terrorists, mainly the Hizballa.
This escalated into something which resembles a war, with rockets flying into major cities in Israel (Haifa, for instance, where I was born and where my parents still ive, is deep within Israel, and was bombed tonight).
This is real scary. I hope it wil quiet down sometime soon, although I see no hope for a truce from the terrorists side of the events...
Anyhow, I just felt like sharing this with you, as we usually only "war" on the server or with BOD 8)
Hope it's not too serious though...
hope things don't get too out of hand
I hope you and your family is fine Eyal. You and my other friends in Israel are in my thoughts. I hope this will be resolved peacefully as soon as possible.
On a side note. What was the name of the place where we had that terrific houmus in Tel Aviv?
Firstly, Mats, is there anyone in dMw that you haven't met?
Secondly and more importantly, where is the end of the Israeli? issues? Is ther e alight at the end of the tunnel?
Well, first things first: The Humus place is called "Meh-shaw-sha", and it's actually after the name of a special humus made in the galilee (the area most under attack nowadays :-) ).
And re the light, well it depends what tunnel you are looking through: 5.56mm (M16 - referred to as M4 in CS / Galil), 9mm (DEagle), 155mm, 175mm, or 230mm - like the rocket that hit Haifa... 8)
Ayal, hope it gets sorted quick. Playing with you a couple of days a go and then seeing the news I was like... Doesn't Le Rouge live up there.
Best of luck dude.
I have the utmost respect for the Israeli attitude to terrorists - zero tolerance. While the world's do-gooders are slating the USA for its stance on terrorism at least the Yanks have done something to try and get a foothold in an area of the world where the sanctity of human life appears to mean very little. The Israelis go one step further by getting their retaliation in first. Good for them.
I sincerely hope that this all ends peacefully but arses need kicking and the Israelis are the best people to do it.
On the other hand, it could be said that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Were the people of Iraq free under Saddam? While the world's press were slating the coalition forces for not finding any WMDs they totally ignored the fact that scores of mass graves were discovered.
Freedom fighters? Hmmmm. Do ya fink an ASBO would sort it?
My best wishes for you and your F&F.
This problem is never going to go away IMO
whilst each side do increasingly worse things to each other there's no end to it.
I don't support 1 or the other, though I must say both sides seem to have painted themselves into a corner.
I hope all goes well for you Ayal...but equally I hope that the Palestinian families don't get hammered...as has been the case just lately.
best wishes...we are thinking of you all over there

Still a few left ... :byebye:

Actually, it was so in the past, it only seems that way today. For instance, the Israeli air force bombed only one guard building of the Hizballah's hq in Beirut (a map in CS:S, btw) and not the hq itself. But you are right that ppl are not exactly free under Syrian regime, for exmaple, let alone in Iran.
What's more frustrating is that Israel acted in accordance with the UN's decision and its ruling re where the northern border stretches, so there was no reason for this uncalled for, brutal attack. Still, European TV shows bombed Beirut and not bombed Haifa, Nahariya, Carmiel, etc. In one case, the rockets fell on an Arab village in north Israel... "I don't want to start any blasphemous roumors but I think that god has got a (sick) sense of humour"
Imagine that Germany would have sent rockets from Hannover to London (ah, that already happened :-) ). Imagine that Mexico would have bombed Texas...
Thanks for the support, I also hope this will end soon, somehow, and the correct spelling of my name is Eyal :flirty: . (love the Icons)
Hope you and your family stay safe red one !!!

I don't mean to cause a comotion, so if this post is unacceptable to this forum moderators can delete, but:
BBC is not exactly fair in covering the war between Israel and the Hizballah. I must say that imo any war is too dangerous to hold (didn't think that when I was 18 and in the army ;-) ), but as this was forced upon us (at least imho), and as the BBC does not show exactly what's going on from our side, and reuters fake pictures (and admit it), while Lebanese PM cries on air and later admit that 1 was killed and not 40, I attach a couple of links to youtube. I must add that I am well aware of the damage to civil lifein Lebanon, but is watching the BBC enough to make you aware to how there is no life in north Israel and over 1M ppl (we only have ~6.6 :-) ) are in shelter?
Anyhow the clips are interesting (shame we have to live them though) and you can find other related clips in these pages.
Hizballah hiding rockets in civilian houses, so sometimes there is no choice but to destroy civil houses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ez_1AzOiZ8).
Hizballah launching from Kefar Kanah (while saying they dont, lol) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mac45_PWruM)
"Without love" funny (sarcastic) remake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDN3VDZzrMc)
Hopefully I'll get round to watching those clips later today. The media is always going to be biased to one side or the other. I'm afraid true objectivity doesn't exist any more, if it ever did.
You don't, imho, have to worry about your post getting pulled, you are free to express your opinions here as long as you don't start berating or being antagonistic toward others, which you haven't.
I truly hope you and yours are as well as can be expected but I don't see an end to this any time soon.
This is the most disturbing footage I have ever watched. My views are irrelevent but I strongly recommend you watch it through, especially the last 10 minutes or so. It is an hour and 20 minutes well spent (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7828123714384920696&hl=en). :(
I fear this is very biassed. Here is an exmpale of palestinians transporting explosives in an ambulance... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bP0oj4VKFs)
[and why the hell does Google Video crash my IE? (and not my FireFox)]

...sure you didn't mean
biased rather than
unbiased?
I've not had time to watch it fully yet, but the few opening minutes were enough to suggest to me it was going to be very much one persons point of view...like the 9-11 conspiracy video-clip-comilation that contained so much rubbish, misinformation, and out-of-context quotes. Not so unlike the media in general I guess, everyone has to be sensationalist to get that headline...<_<

That a bit like saying "What a crap book" without having read it! The few opening minutes? Well at least you watched enough to make an informed opinion. <_<

Just skipped through it and I have seen it before, and I stand by my original assessment. Besides, the opening minutes quite quickly show a strong anti-US leaning. Unfortunately so much reporting seems to get taken up in trying to show how extreme one party while showing how justified the other party is that it all ends up as propoganda.
Le Rouge I hope you , your family, and friends will stay oke.
I think all the members of dMw thouhts are with you.
I hope this will end soon, greetz King
I kind of hope both sides come to their senses.

I agree with that. I think Israel suffers currently from a leadership (if you can even use the verb 'lead' in this context) which is very weak (but not in their own eyes) and unexperienced. On the other hand, I think radical Isalm is not good for anyone but itself also. In fact, any radical governance is bad for its peopla as for the rest of the world.
Howvever, even radical Zionism (if there is such a thing) wouldn't go bombing planes of the US, or UK as we have learnt lately. It also wouldn't burn cars in Paris. I realy fear that in a decade or too the EU will have to deal with a much "burning" problem.
