Yesterday I did a slight reorganization of my spellbuttons on my hot bars. It now looks like this:

The lower one is the standard hot bar which by default has 1, 2, 3 and so on as shortcut keys.
I also assigned shortcut keys to the bar above (which if I don't remember wrong is called "Lower left hot bar" in the key map settings), and for those I used Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3 and so on.
The strange thing is as follows: Nature's Swiftness (Ctrl+2) works just fine, and so does also Moonfire (Ctrl+4) on any enemy target. But when I tried to cast Faerie Fire (Ctrl+3) on an enemy target (using the shortcut key combo), I just got the error message "Not a valid target" (or something like that). If I than used my mouse and clicked on the button, it worked just fine
I can confirm that the shortcut keys are properly assigned, cause I see them all get highlighted when I hit the shortcut key combo <_<
Does anybody have a clue what this can be :please:
no idea, try changing the spell in that slot nd see if its a prob with the spell or the slot, usually only says that if you try and heal a mob or dps a friendly etc, is the ctrl+key assigned to anything else?, are any macros involved?
I've tried around with a few things, and I'm now even more confused
First of all: the error message I get is correctly that one that is indicating wrong target (trying to heal enemy, or trying to cast damage spell on a friendly player).
What I've found out is as following:
- I only get the error message from damage/offencive spells on the upper hotbar (key bindings Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3 and so on)(meaning I can have healing spells on the upper hotbar and cast 'em on myself, both with clicking and using the key binding)
- I only get the error message when I try to use the key binding, if I click the icon itself it works all fine
- I only get the error messsage when I try to use the "default spell icon", if I bind the spell in a macro and put the macro in the place that the spell icon had earlier, it works just fine
- If I scroll the lower hotbar so that it is the upper that also shows as the lower, I can use key bindings fine for all spells, both damage and healing (note that the key bindings for the lower bar is as default 1, 2, 3 and so on)
All this is just VERY strange, and I can see NO logical explanation for it
Might be a bug in the game or simply some file which might be corrupted.
You have the CTMod mod for the bars installed? Maybe you can disable that and see if it makes any difference.
Otherwise, if it really bugs you that much, you can re-install the game (maybe making a copy of the current folder just in case) and see if it does the same. You will have to copy all your variables from your current installation to the new one if you want to keep any settings you have saved. Like for example, if you use Auctioneer.
