mine takes about half hour.. tht cant be right <_<
how do i sort it im kinda new to it aswell
Depends on the map, but generally about 2-3 mins I guess.
First of all - how much RAM do you have? BF2 prefers 2GB and anything below 1GB really has a great impact on loading time. Clear out as much of the RAM as possible before starting. That is, right click and chose exit on everything that runs in the bottom-right traybar, including IM-programs (except xfire) and such.
Secondly, what detail level have you set? If you crank it all up, then the loading time will increase. Reducing resolution helps a lot, but I guess that is not an option :)
What kind of PC do you have?

The main things are Memory, Processor Speed. Also i have my copy on a different hard drive to my windows. And you can always turn down the detail will take less time to load then.
Also if you have alot of backgroundprograms running it slowers it down.
I agree with the above...memory & processor power are key.
I also found that it helped to shout at the screen & bang the keyboard

2x512 should be allright.
Not sure about UKprices or so but do a little search.256 MB RAM is really to low for that game.

Are we ever gonna get a game of BF2 again on the dmw server?
Quote from: outofsyncAre we ever gonna get a game of BF2 again on the dmw server?
Maybe introducing the BF2 monday again would help? I am up for it this monday if there are other people?
Maybe adding a new map? tbh I have played a lot on regular ranked servers lately and, dare I say it, the game can actually be just as fun without the AAS mod.
1gb is 1024 Mb.
You'd need atleast 1gb of RAM ( or memory as its also called) to run it without collapsing during the time your BF2 loads.
Just right click your "My computer" icon, and tell us what stands there :) as previously posted:)
i have 240mb of RAM ive been told its not alot :eyebrow:
Quote from: Jewelz^i have 240mb of RAM ive been told its not alot :eyebrow:
Therein lies your problem guv'nor! As the others have said, BF2 is very resource-intensive and needs a
minimum of 512MB RAM to run in, but it'll still run like a three-legged dog with that amount. Reckon on needing at least 1GB (or 1024MB ). If you will be playing a lot, and can spare the readies, then 2GB (or 2048MB ) is ideal.
Sorry, but whereas 240MB (you most likely actually have 256MB ) might
just be alright for CZ, it ain't gonna cut it with this game, or indeed anything else released in the last couple of years.

We just play basic BF2 with the AAS Mod. For AAS you don't have to do anything (it is server side only mod) and just install the latest patch for BF2 (1.3 IIRC)
What sort of RAM do you have and how many slots? I have a 256MB PC2100 DIMM going spare.

hey being only 13 is'nt an excuse, I built my first computer when I was about 10 and a half back in 1980 (with the help of a suitable adult) ... the venerable ZX80... go ask your dad for some assistance.
Only trying to help you sort your BF2 thing out...
I still have a ZX81 with 64K Ram pack... remember those things... mum's hoovering.... your typing in that fantastic game in basic... and bang she catches the ram pack and pow 4 pages of code gone... those were the days
Open up the box yes, "teh puter" and inside there should be a board, with every single component attached to, exept Harddrives & CdROMS and your PSU(power suply unit) Should be next to a large fan, with a steelblock under it, thats your CPU. NExt to there theres 1 or more sticks, thats inserted into your board. Check how many extra spaces there is. Dont buy anything before you actually buy something. Not to be harsh, but you shouldnt buy ram if you dont "even" know how many RAM sticks you can insert in your Computer. Get an adult that knows something about computers :)

Possibly that should be "Don't buy anything before you actually *know* something?" Bit harsh, but I would agree. At least open up your computer and make sure you are confident about what the RAM sticks are, where they are, what types or RAM will work in your system, how to add new ones without breaking or frying the rest of the system, etc, before you go and buy anything (As opposed to asking a local non-big-name computer store how much they would charge for sticking in a new stick of RAM. A lot of the time they tend to be a *bit* clueless, but they tend to build systems for people, so they shoul at least know how to add new RAM ).
The "240MB" RAM worries me as well. That would imply to me that you actually have 256MB, but that 16MB are not showing up as RAM to the system, which would then imply that they are being used by something else at a lower level than the OS (ie BIOS), which in my experience can only mean 1 thing - onboard graphics. I do wonder just how well BF2 will run (if at all), even on lowest settings, if the only graphics processor in your system is a 16MB onboard jobby.
QuotePossibly that should be "Don't buy anything before you actually *know* something?" Bit harsh, but I would agree. QuoteHarsh now, he'd be thanking me if he suddenly bought a 2gig stick for 500 dollars, and woops, i cant use it =(

I only have PC2100 RAM, take a look on froogle or ebay for best prices on PC3200 RAM. I would suggest going for a couple of 512MB sticks but it depends how much money you have to spend.
If any of the other more knowledgeable types on here know if jewelz can make use of that PC2100 RAM I am happy to post it you gratis.
If 3200 is 400FSB, 2700 is 166FSB so that'd mean 2100 is 133FSB?
If so, then yes.
I've a spare 256MB stick of CL3 3200 if you prefer.
