Was wondering if there is a certain policy concerning this subject. I mean, what happens if there is a need for a certain class and lets assume....there are 3 or 4 soldiers from that class willing to participate but you only need 1. Which one do you choose?
Is it based on skill, gear, right attitude? Maybe other things i missed?
I sometimes get questions from soldiers about this subject wondering why they havent been picked for the raid. I used to tell them the things i mentioned above but lately i'm not sure about this anymore and wondering if other things are more important like knowing the right ppl in the guild.
Can any officer help me out on this? I'm kinda lost here  .
Yhea that is a good idea. Mainly to answer with a proper answer instead of not knowing why someone is picked or not. I can imagine as soldier that you are willing to raid and eager to look for that spot......
As far as I know now it is the one that /w the fastest right?
It's more like the one that will benefit the raid the most. Not the first to whisper.
As a soldier you can get to raid (MC+) when theres a spot open and none from that RG to fill it. If the spot needs to be filled, it is with a certin class/profil, and the one fitting this profile best, would get in.
And theres a lot to be taken into consideration. But it's NOT done by you knowing the right people in the guild, it's done by your personal qualifications (skills, reputation, gear, current application status towards RG1/RG2 ("see that person in action"))
So to all soldiers, show the best of yourself during party instances.....then we can see you in action!!
There is currently no official policy on soldiers, but one might be forcoming shortly.
Last night i got a whisp from a soldier who was pretty ****ed....and i can't really blame him. One or more spots in RG2 where filled up by soldiers but no request for soldiers was made in guildchat. How did these persons join the raid?

I have to say, in 40 man instances it's hard to watch one or more people; simply because it's so crowded. You get to know a person better in 5 man runs, because then there input will make a larger difference and they are a lot easier to observe. In a 40 man run you will only be clearly noted if you make a major **** up  .
But back on topic. Like Sazgul said, it's mostly dependant on role/class need.

We took in Toff (soldier, warrior) because OA wanted to test him out. The rest has been said by Saz/Bastet
I'd probably say it's not so much watching one person, although if a soldier is in the raid peopel do tend to notice their actions a bit more, but mainly, if you're a healer and your group is dead alot, or a lock who gets aggro alot or a tank with no aggro etc, people will remember, of course this goes for all raid members but it kinda averages out over number of raids, so make a good first impression or something. Not sure about anyone else but TS also has alot to say for impressions. Alot of peopel are only on to hear orders, but if you join in the talk, get involved etc it's alot easier to put a voice to the name and get an idea of what you are like. These ideas of course are all AFTER you are in a raid, as to how peopel get in I don't know, not being an officer, but people shouldn't get annoyed at not getting in, trust in the leaders to get the right people in, main moral is, not to react to something that you have assumed (i.e. if you don't know the full story, don't go off ranting, you'll probably make a tit of yourself)
You can easily see if people do their job well. As for Toff last night, he did a great job tanking even though it was his 2nd MC run and he had very little experience.
So dont think you can sit back and dont do anything in RG2.
We are watching you

Ok, clear. Maybe next time throw a line in guildchat explaining this to the other soldiers so they know?
Toff signed up for queue, and when OA asked on TS who was in queue, Toff and another warrior was. We decided to take Toff because he applied for RG2 and therefore it was a great opportunity to test him.
So to those Soldiers, sign up in queue as fast as you see it publiced, then your chances are bigger!
(btw, great job yesterday, Toff, you got some pretty sweet gear, ehh? :o
I explained it to the one warrior who whispered me about it.
Why the **** do they wanna talk to you about it? They should have grabbed one of the marshalls instead
Im gonna have to make toff read this thread. He was having a blast, and really liked the way MOlten core went, and getting all thoose epix didnt make it worse!
And as a reminder to soldiers.

You can be a full member of SoG, be in the same 'club' as your friends and enjoy the SoG atmosphere.

None, you can be any level (L60 is not a requirement) and you can do as you please when you are online.
You have no commitment to raid and in this category of membership members can only raid if the raid fails to fill up with defenders or if there is a specific class need.

I sure was disapointed last thursday. As usual I wait at MC entrance if there is a spot free (I know soldiers don't get priority, but if there is a spot, Im at the scene instantly). So last thursday, there were 2 spots free. The queue officer (or something) wasn't known at that time, and there also wasn't a soldier call in chat. And all of a sudden a soldier can get in who wasn't even near MC at all. How did he/she know how to get an invite and I didn't?
There aren't many fun things left at level 60 besides doing dungeons. Except for a few runs with Wierd to Strat Baron I hardly get into a dungeon at all.
Now I got vacation, I'd hope to do MC a bit more often (at least, past Geddon) because I got more time now,but so far I've only been in MC twice (in a duration of like...2 months or something).
This way I can hardly earn dkp and prove myself a bit. Upgrading to defender hasn't got much use either I guess....RG2 is always full and there are no applies open for it anyway.
im pretty sure Rg2 has an open spot for a warrior (preferably tank) since our old MT2 left. shud check lil harder mate.
Well mate were trying out new tanks for RG2, and we need a protect spec tank. I do not know your spec, but it would be req. for you to be or respec to that. Im not sure if ur interestet in that, but if you are feel free to give me an ingame whisper and ill gladly inform you of what we need and seek.
Only chance we get on testing ppl is to bring them along, and since Toff have applied for RG2 we picked him ofc...
Hope this answers ur questions, if not ask me or other marshals
i think we need a warrior who WANTS/DON'T MIND being a tank and not becoming prot although they don't wanna bcos thats probably the only way they can join. cos that makes things very tedious for them..
QuoteHow did he/she know how to get an invite and I didn't?
If its toff you're talking about, spill it :) I dont know how many soldiers there were in the raid, but i do know that Toff applied for rg2, and really wants to be the maintank, so he offered to respecc, but havent done so before today, and judging by what some of the officers say, he did a good job, and i think he did too ( we have comps like, 1m besides eachother :P)
GMOTD said there was a spot, and it was stated in /gchat that they were " only 38/39" people, same for Rg1, but it was BWL, and thats why i didnt get to join there either.
I know your frustration, dungeons is the only thing you can do at 60, or the "only". Heck, as many know im thinking of taking the guardian spot, (or i should really say apply for it) because i miss the guys i raided with :)
And now i went totally off topic, hope my post enlightened you a bit.
Well it sure clears things up now.
Because, I didn't know he wanted to be a tank, I didn't know he applied being a tank.
I just see a warrior soldier, who got attunement for 2 weeks, getting in MC 2 weeks in a row, while Im being left outside nearly everytime without anyone giving a good reason. So I either see Might got DE'ed or goes to some other soldier who goes from imperial plate to epics and I don't even know why. I hope you do understand my point that I got frustrated simply because I didn't know whats going on.
Im not planning on going tank spec, it's a horrible spec, especialy when you solo things...so I won't bother going for MT (even though I can tank something without tank spec).
Maybe make a post or something to prevent things like this to happen again. There might be people who think about this just like me, they get frustrated and stuff, just by some silly misunderstanding.
And just because we're soldiers doesn't mean we don't want to raid, it doesn't mean we're stupid and can't do anything in a raid.
Understand your frustration mate:) Glad my post cleared stuff up.
And dont worry, the might goes to toff now.
(or was that under the belt? :P)
Getting in a raidgroup is hard, even harder when your not "raid specced" :)
well from wot u say about tanking and how horrible it is, it should be absolutely no problem for u to see Might get De'd or wotever the ML decides to dish it to seeming as its a tanking set :) and Toff may of recently got attuned and stuff..but hes been in the guild for a very long time.

Don't be silly...
I said I don't like
tank spec I didn't say I never tank, so in that case Might still is very usefull to me (even as a non-tank spec).
Also, in case you didn't know, Might increases stamina greatly and strength (thus dps) too.
Lot's and lots of fury or arms warriors use Might, not just tanks.<_<
"might" .. the name does sounds very misleading cos its actually terrible for dps and in which case, even valor is better. players dpsing in tanking gear have no idea the damage they can cause when wearing mixed plate REAL dps gear. hmm going a lil off-topic but hu cares!
