Question:
What should the momento for lan x be?
Option 1: pint glass
votes: 3
Option 2: t-shirt
votes: 12
Option 3: \'m too shy to speak out and will go with the crowd
votes: 6
Option 4: don\'t like the options and want something else
votes: 5
Ok, further to Duvel's thread can we try a t-shirt or pint glass competition again? I think i know a local t-shirt supplier that we can get them from, but i don't know the exact prices. I think whatever the momento we choose it must have the letter "x" to show the anniversary of dmw's lan events :). I think Sheepy was able to get pint glasses last time but answer the poll to support your chosen momento for lan x.
Although it'll be more expensive, I'd opt for something more classy for LAN X - something like a polo shirt with an embroidered logo maybe?
Apparently TL is giving away a dMw logo-ed anti-perspirent this year!!:dribble:
http://gprime.net/video.php/thelynxeffect (http://gprime.net/video.php/thelynxeffect)
looks like the LAN will be booked up early this time then:whistle:
Good call on the vote as my thread was highjacked somehow.
My personal opinion is something along what was talked about last time. coasters.
we have done t-shirts a couple of times, and who has actually made use of them since the lan?? I know i havn't.
The pint glasses worked really well i thought and mine is still going strong and in regular use.
I voted for the something else bit.
dMw socks perhaps...:lmfao:
...or a small keyring or something maybe
Mousemats, Mugs, USB Drives, Umbrellas, Desk clocks or anything else http://www.brandit-catalogue.co.uk/ might do.
A years subscription to FHM etc?
I liked the T-shirt and I do wear it. I'm quite happy to wear it in public and not embarrased to be seen it it.
It is getting a bit worn and a replacement would be nice. Though maybe a more durable multi-colour print and better quality one might be worth having for the 10th anniversary, OK it'll cost more but what the hell you can't take it with you.
10th anniversary LAN momento needs to be a good one - I've been to all of them so far, so intend to make this one memorable!
TL.
how about these..

with
-=[dMw]=-
Lan X
oct 06
this will be about £25 each, If there is intrest I shall try to negotiate on price
on the same line this one would be cheeper but its not as big
http://www.giftengraving.co.uk/product/2/224/Stainless+Steel+Square+2.5oz+Flask.html
I estimate about £20
What about a dMw Memory Stick:
http://www.directusbstore.co.uk/cnb/shop/directusbstore?merchantPageID=3&op=merchantPage-merchantPageDisplay
Flasks I'd never use (why waste the bits that stick to the sides when you can drink straight from the bottle).
Memory sticks is a good idea, but I'd be worried that (like me) most already had one.
And I'll be damned if I can think of anything better right now
TL.
my idea when i came across the flasks was that i was looking for a small statue of a skeleton on a base to the bottom of this could be a plaque with DMW LAN X OCT 06 or summin on it
I've had about 4 memory sticks so far. I keep losing them.
I'm still up for a T-shirt.
Everyone wears one (usually).
Maybe if we do a range of items. For example baseball caps or t-shirts. I agree with dogger;'s we should get nice polo shirts as they last longer :). I also agree with TL as i wouldn't use a hipflask and unfortunately already have a usb stick.
So who will make the final decision then? O and lastly we need to get the logo competition started if we're having one :).
I know its not a "big" thing. But what about a key ring?
reconably simple to do, and you can neverhave enough keyrings, im always looking for one and can never find one
Quote from: sheepy;143917I know its not a "big" thing. But what about a key ring?
one with a bottle opener on it?

Now that is a damn fine idea!
I shall have a look in to it

is what a quick search brought up. not great but im sure that people would have a couple of them each if we charge 75p each and put profits to server fund
ps im looking at the R1, which is about 1/2 way down the page

Nice 1!

there was also this one, perhaps slightly smaller? although perhaps slightly trickier to do the image...

or same thing but (slightly) cheaper

Only problem with them money is that they are minimum order 250 pces, i dont think that ppl are going to want 5 or 6 of them each, the reason that I like the one I found is the minimum order is only 100 pces
but i do like the on you found
Quote from: sheepy;143955Only problem with them money is that they are minimum order 250 pces
ah yes ... but I think the brandit catalog one allows small orders (50 say?)
http://www.brandit-catalogue.co.uk/detail.asp?ProductCode=3065&id=56987
the only thing is we need to know if there is going to be sufficient intrest in bottle openers to make it worth doing it. as most ppl did say that they wanted t-shirts
I dont mind organising it, just tell me if you want them/
Sheepy,
You'll find that 250 is going to be the minimum qty I think.
You'll also find that there will be a set up charge of between £25-£30
You'll also find that the prices don't include VAT (probably).
You'll therefore find that the keyrings are going to cost around the £1 mark.
That said - I like the idea of them!

I'm happy with bottle openers matey - and more happy if you want to organise them.
I also don't mind buying them through my company as we'll probably get discounted prices being an B2B Agency (if that helps)
(Plus they'll be tax deductible )
PEN
you were right about the VAT.
with the one i found min order is 100 pces.
it would put the price at £1 per opener if we want to raise money for server as 100 pces including vat and postage comes to £71.09
this is a 40mm x 32mm insert with us supplying the artwork. these come fully assembled (as im sure no one here has the time to bother doing that
Sure they're not going to charge you a set-up fee as well?
Anyway - nice one - I'm in for some. Put me down for several
£1 seems like a good price.
Which company are they from out of interest?
PEN
Interested aswell!
i have been through the order process rite up to having to put in card details, looked at the final invoice and there is no set up fee on it. probably beacuse if we supply the artwork all they have to do is size it correctly and print it. I think the "construction" cost of them is to include all of the time it will take them to do it so final cost is basically £70 per 100.
ps company is business gift uk
repost of webby = http://www.businessgift.uk.com/shop/6/index.htm
Ahh OK I thought you were talking about the metal ones that SM posted.
I can see that the production on the placcy ones you're suggesting is minimal.
Cheers
PEN
exactlly, they are the cheeper option.
ifd there was 100+ ppl lanning then it may be worth going to 250 pieces, but as there isn't i dont really think we can justify that amount
Pen's got the idea...
Quote from: brandituk.comThe minimum order quantity on the 3065 Croma bottle opener keyring is 250. The Unit cost including your design in up to four colour process is 79p, there is a set up charge of £25, carriage of £15, all plus VAT.
I hope this clarifies for you.
Best regards
...so not in the smaller quantites, even though their website lets you enter smaller ones and doesn't hint at these extra costs...<_<
Bumpity bump.
So Sheepy, Mr Lan Memento organiser, any updates? Anything we can do to expediate this ?
PEN
Can we do t-shirts too :P. I wouldn't have a use for a bottle opener.

And you're in college?

Yup, they have people who open bottles for them - didn't you read Tom Brown's Schooldays?
I voted t-shirts (mind you I have far too many as it is).
Public advertising for the clan and we can all look 1337 whilst playing in the room wearing our matching shirts. (or you could go all out and get hoodies, t-shirts, smart shirts for eating in the restaurante, caps, bottle openers and pint glasses...)
oooo Caps is a good idea, maybe beanies or be really fancy and get trilbies. 8) Infact just get 50 3 piece suits with -=[dMw]=- on the blazer pocket and that'll do me.
Quote from: BlueBall;144874Yup, they have people who open bottles for them - didn't you read Tom Brown's Schooldays?
Ehrm: NOPE, Dutch remember.
Plus I took the long road of studying.
LTS (Lower Technical School), MTS (Medium Technical School) and HTI (Higher Technical University). And the last one was working fulltime with once every two Saturdays going the whole day to school.
Got the last one almost finished now though.8)
march'll think some sort of invasion is happening with all these similarly dressed people! aaargh, the dead the dead men are walking ... could be from a cheap horror flick :lmfao:
(I'd not want a cap though - one size doesn't fit all)
I think we need some sort of closure on this or else we'll end up with nothing.
The LAN is not that far away when production lead times are factored in.
so far the choice is for
1. Bottle Openers
2. T-Shirts
3. Caps
4. Flask
5. Memory Stick
6. Coasters
7. Polo Shirts.
We need a decision people.
Over to you Sheepy, that is if
Quote from: sheepy;143962I dont mind organising it, just tell me if you want them/
still stands ?
Cheers

Did anyone mention inflatables?
Maybe a new vote is in order?
But then again:
Bottle Openers 20% of my vote.
T-Shirts 30% of my vote.
Polo Shirts 50% of my vote.
im going to start a new vote for this
who are the ppl what can organise each thing?
obviously i can organise bottle openers if they are required. i have alkready stated that. who will be organising other things if they are the one chosen?
I could do coasters (beermats rights???).
