Title: Folding and dual core CPU's
Post by: Barley on August 16, 2006, 12:02:49 AM
Is there any way of optimising F@H for use with two cores?  I'm running an X2 4200+ at the moment, and F@H appears to be using 50% of each core.

Reckon that would be normal?  Surely it should use all available resources to maximise speed?

Install 2 copies of FAH in different folders; c:\folding1 and c:\folding2 for example.

When you configure them make one have ID1 and the other have ID2 and each copy of FAH will run on a different core.

Haven't been able to get it to do it myself, but........

Create a new directory, stick the client in there and configure it as Processor ID 2.

Then run 2 instances of the client, both will use up the processing power of a single CPU.

The end result is the same.
