You're posting your diary on the forum??? That really is sad!

But OK here goes..... I'm catching up on the last couple of episodes of The Saddam Show on Sky News.

I scoffed some poncy salad thing at the gym...so it's going to have to be a 'Fat Boy Pizza with Xtra pork pies' later on.

Being completely pedantic...

Indian Takeaway isn't actually Indian...it's err cheap crappy goo barely fit for human consumption.

Real Indian food is quite rare. If you really really want to know what Indian is all about then you have to go to

Chutney Mary in Chelsea
http://www.chutneymary.com/ (http://www.chutneymary.com/)
or
Veeraswamy in Regents Street
http://www.veeraswamy.com (http://www.veeraswamy.com)

It will change your view of Indian food for ever. Of course if you live somewhere completely ridiculous like Cambridgeshire then you're in for a long drive or out of luck

End of being completely pedantic.

WRONG..... try going to india m8ty, indian food over here is just a total bastardisation of there foods, there currys are not hot, about the hottest is hte rogan josh, which is about the same as it is here, vindaloos are mild currys etc, and yes i have been to india [3 times so i do no what im on about] once u have tryed proper indian then its very difficult to apreciate anythink here as indian.

/end rant

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Both the two resturants I've linked too not only import all their ingredients from India they also import all their chefs from India too. They are credited with producing real authentic top quality Indian grub exactly as is produced in Indian homes. Check the web sites.

I've not been to India but I have been to Chutney Mary's and it's a fair bit cheaper going to Chelsea than it is going to Bombay :-)

I wouldn't disagree with the ' its not really proper Indian food cooked & prepared the authentic Indian way' but who cares :)

Is Chinese anymore/Less authentic though:?:

I have been to China (Beijing) and Hong Kong and the food are very different in comparison to the standard menus here in Europe. Still you can order genuine Chinese dishes in almost all restaurants. I prefer the original chinese cooking bacause there are more flavours and usually it is a bit more spicy. There is a Taiwanese restaurant that I frequently visit where I have eaten many superb dinners.

There are different cuisines within chinese cooking. You have the south chinese cuisine and the north and also the Taiwanese cuisine that usually also goes under the term "chinese". Then there are of course difference between inland and coastal.

The south chinese cuisine is more sea based and exotic and is usually 'lighter'. The north chinese cuisine is more meat (pig, chicken, duck, dove, cow) and root vegetables. Basically you could just check the climate and vegetation of the region and you would know the difference in cuisine.

also real chinese uses all parts of the animal.

A couple of our guys are down in china at the moment. not in a tourist area, but in the industrial parts. this is where the real food is. the preparation and non animal ingredients seem to be the same. it's just the chickens feet and pork balls that are added instead of chicken breast and pork!

gandy, that does not sound like an advantage..... I'd take chicken breast/cat any day over a stinky pair of bulls bollocks.

Is that the same as the 'real' English food is to be had on a trading estate in Slough?
