Title: DPS incorrect in forms
Post by: Sandrion on August 19, 2006, 07:43:11 PM
Did anyone ever notice that the 'DPS tooltip' is slightly off when you're in forms?

Here is a screenie that illustrates the 'problem':

As you can see, in caster form the DPS is calculated correctly, but in bear and cat it's not. It's not far off in most cases, but I must say that for example the +/- 4.5% difference with Doomulus Prime in bear form is ... well ... not so nice  .

I found that this 'problem' occurs with every weapon I currently own. I don't know if it's just the tooltip that's broken or that it effects the damage you actually deal with your weapon as well. (I fear the worst <_< ).

Did anyone ever notice this before? Because I'm unable to find anything about this issue.

I don't know any facts about this, but I''ve noticed that it's not always that tooltip texts (or similar stuff) not always correct according to the actual effect.  I haven't looked for it for a while, but at least earlier the increased stats you get from MotW differ from the number that shows if you mouse-over the buff icon.

So my guess would be that it's only the tooltip that's a bit off - but just a guess, as I said

dmg in forms doesnt depend on what melee weapon you have equipped. only stats/equip bonuses count towards your dmg in forms.

test this by equipping/unequipping weapons while in your forms.

It seems that your are correct Menedil. Thanks for pointing that out (now why didn't they just write that in the manual ... <_< ). If I take the DPS that is showing in the tooltip and substract the DPS I gain from my AP from that, it always equals 50 DPS for bear and 54.8 DPS for cat.

So if your weapon has no AP, str or agi on it you might just as well fight unarmed. Sucks if you ask me  .

The only weapons that really give a real upgrade in DPS are:
Hammer of Bestial Fury (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=20580)
Blessed Qiraji War Hammer (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=21268)
The End of Dreams (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=22988)
And of course: Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian (http://www.wowwiki.com/Atiesh)

Yes, probably.

Grobbulus is only level 1 (free kill after defeating patchwerk), so the end of dreams shouldn't be that hard to get in comparison to the other weapons (apart from the fact that we didn't start Naxx yet).
