why was the "Doris leaving" thread closed.
Am I missing something (wouldn't be the first time)
I closed the thread because I didn't want things to get out of hand. Doris, Hippy, VV, Mad_ness and BT have left dMw to form a clan. Nothing wrong with in itself. However, they have set up their clan website/forums and in a public part of the forum were abusing dMw and dMw members. Rather than have somebody respond in a manner that we didn't want I closed the thread until we can sort out what is happening. Sorry, I should have explained better in the admin forums.

I'm still catching up on events but it appears that some time towards the middle of July a decision was made by one or more dMw members to form their own clan. They kept it quiet while they plotted on winning the cup competition which had a first prize of a server for a year which they would claim for themselves even though they were representing dMw. They setup their own website and forums (which they forgot to make private) where they expressed their true feelings about dMw and some of its leaders - real backstabbing stuff and self-confessed two-faced vitriol.
The head admind will be discussing the events but in the meantime we would appreciate that this is not made public in our forum or indeed in theirs.
More info when appropriate.
Must admit I've known about this for a short while, it became plainly obvious really when I started seeing them on Friends list playing under their different tag. However I didn't know they had a website or anything else yet until yesterday and was less than overjoyed to see some of the comments on there from what was a minority but none the less supposed to be friends and decent people.
I even went so far as to warm Doris about being secretive and adopting an 'us and them' attitude as I've been in exactly this situation before and ended up with nothing but bad feelings and lost friends.
In some ways I do understand their feelings in wanting to move on and some of the grievances they've badly expressed views on, but I could never condone the way in which things have been handled in a secretive and some what 'underhand' manner.
My views, if CZ is going to be a non runner in dMw now the backbone of regular players has gone then I too would consider looking elsewhere. I won't hide that fact.
It goes without saying that we will support CZ so long as members want it.
I would love to know how starting your own clan with the same people but less facilities is 'moving forward'?
Having said that and having read the content of their forum I can see how they will fit right in with the rest of the general CZ community.
I've been lied to and conspired against by people I thought were friends and I'm feeling pretty sick right now. But what I want to ensure, along with my fellow admins, is that we provide the best gaming experience we can for our members. We can't beat people with a stick and force them to play a game they don't want to but we can ensure that anyone with a grievance has a voice and can feel free to air it. If anything more could have been done to accomodate the CZ section I'm stumped to know what it could be. MAD_ness had a free hand to do whatever he felt was necessary to keep it alive. Apparently it appears that what was needed was somewhere to bitch and moan about how badly treated they were.
Let's learn from this please people - me included. If there are issues that need sorting then raise them here and us non-paid volunteers will do our best to get them sorted.
Interestingly I've just said very similar in a PM to Doris :(
It would appear to be an appropriate choice of clan name in that case<_<
I got a whiff that summat was up on reading the new CZ server admin pw ROFLMAO...n1 BB
My flabber has never been so gasted!
I'd joked with MAD_ness and Doris about not wearing their tag recently and was told it was because they were playing on a public that didn't use tags. Now I know what was really happening but don't see the need to lie about it. I didn't know anything about this until reading the thread today and I don't really understand the motive for doing it, but good luck to them if it's what they want to do.
I'm sure we can keep CZ alive in dMw as we have a good turn out most Friday's, the hard part will be getting enough people willing to commit to matches.

I think this is one of those "all pull together moments"

And this is the part I'm struggling to understand. I had the misfortune to read their "private" forum before Hippy yanked it, and I fail to see where all the bad-mouthing, and feeling of being hard done by, comes from. They had free reign to run CZ here how they saw fit, and had a small core of regular match players, so why wasn't that enough to keep their toys in the pram?
And so what if there aren't as many CZ players as a while ago? There's still support for it in -=[dMw]=- even if it isn't the main focus anymore. The reality is it's an old game now, and a lot of people have moved on wanting a fresh challenge (I know I have). I also fully expect BF2 to not have the longevity of CZ, die a death and be replaced by something else, as will WoW (probably). Oldie's right on the money with this comment: "We can't beat people with a stick and force them to play a game they don't want to."
Neither should we get all bitter and twisted because of it. Isn't gaming supposed to be about fun?
I would've had more respect if they'ed have bowed out gracefully and been up front about setting up the new clan. Hell, I even wished them well. Having read what I did today, if they're going to act all juvenile and sling insults about, then fair enough - that's their prerogative. However, I like to think that isn't how -=[dMw]=- do things, and perhaps we're better off without them...
All IMHO.
