Ta for the heads-up. :thumb:

Unfortunately someone's already nabbed my usual name.  Will now be known in BF2142 as: dMw Cadaver

I don't think you can have anything other than letters and numbers in your name.  I.e. the = [ ] parts of the community tag are out.  Spaces seem to be okay.  Not sure about the '-' though.

Well, my gaming name in BF2 is: -=[dMw]=-DuVeL, just check this:

Yes DuV, I'm well aware that BF2 allows those extra characters in the gaming name.  As I myself am -=[dMw]=-Cadaver, and there are quite a few other -=[dMw]=-xxxxxxxx folks out there.

I was just trying to illustrate (albeit poorly) that the BF2142 name reservation web tool doesn't seem to allow the same name format/character set as BF2.

Anyway, admit it, that post was just a shameless plug for your stats wasn't it?  You badge whore, you. :ninja:

QuoteHello,
Thank you for contacting In Game Support.

If you are not able to reserve a nickname or are getting errors such as 'The screen name you have entered already exists in our database' and/or 'Please correct the error and try again', there are a number of steps you can take to improve your chances of reserving a nickname.

Make sure your nickname does not exceed 14 characters as this is the limit for the length of nicknames in Battlefield 2142.  Do not include your clan tag in your reserved name (you can add this to your nickname once you are in the game) as this may push your nickname over the character limit.
If the web site is receiving high traffic, you may want to try again at a later time to ensure your request goes through.
If you have tried your nickname at different times without success, your nickname may have already been reserved by another character.  You can reserve a different nickname and you will still receive your Veteran Status even if you nickname does not match your Battlefield 2 nickname.

Unfortunately, Support staff can not alter or modify Battlefield 2142 soldier names, so please make sure that the name you reserve is the name you wish to use.
Please, let us know if you have any more questions or troubles.

Answers to most questions may be found at http://support.ea.com (http://support.ea.com/)/.

Sincerely,
Battlefield Support Team
Electronic Arts

Feh. If it doesn't recognise one thing it's something else. I don't care enough about a free unlock, and who uses in-game taunts anyway?

(Instead of creating a whole new thread) Is there anyway of me being able to use my BF2 account now and having the veteran status? I have had a look around and EA say now the promotion has ended, however there have been accounts of people who have signed up very recently and had their BF2 accounts used through 2142.

Anyone know of how I can do the same?

Thanks.

Not sure if I get what you're typing.
It's just so you have a nice shiny BF2 sign for people to see when you play BF2142. Not the other way around.
It doesn't do alot.

So you're playing BF2142 also?
I've got the highest rank allready and got tired of the game.
Now back into BF2.
