Yup, I believe I also fell foul of the "my bum sticks through the wall" problem but it was still damn good fun. Thnx all!

Missed out unfortunately...

Ah well. I just went to AXIA at about 11. <_< It was fun but those guys wouldn't know TCZ if it kicked em in the doo daa. They became more enthusiastic when me and Blunt were getting rowdy on the mic's.

Yeah, I tried to increase the quality of the codec, but I think changing the quality setting borked it somehow.  A restart should sort it but BB is going to take a peek this weekend and will load the CZ codec we currently use (and are happy with) onto the CSS server.  With luck we'll see it up and running later today (many thanks BB for the help).

Was 1:30 local when i called it a night :tongue: now i just have to whip my mic into submission to work properly w/ CS:S, or that might have something to do w/ codex, dunno, will see today i quess :biggrin:

Codec changed to CZ codec. Needs tested by a couple of kind peeps :) hint

Tested by Whitey and I - result!

Sounds much clearer and "just like cz" to quote Whitey 8)

I've also set it to 20 players instead of 18, set the start money to $5000, roundtime to 4, maxrounds to 13, etc so it will be just like Meathook.

Regrettably I have had to resort to the old codec as using the voice_speex codec means that you lose voice comms on every map change. :(

You can get your comms back by pressing ESC, clicking on OPTIONS, APPLY, OK then pressing ESC again but to do this every map became too much of a pain in the but. Sorry guys, I'll keep looking for a perm fix but at present it seems to be a "known problem"

such a shame, on the current codex ppl are mubbling incoherently for my system.. so hard to be a team player when you cant hear the team...

Well I spent over an hour this morning trying to get Speex to work on the server after a map change. I have checked the Steam forums and Valve seem to have no wish to enable speex for CS:S and seem quite content to leave us with the awful "vaudio_miles" codec.

So until someone comes up with a smart solution we are stuck with lousy comms in CS:S (I won't suggest Teamspeak as it doesn't suit our method of play - we'd be changing TS channels every couple of minutes as we swap sides to keep things balanced)

There are several people on Steam forums claiming to run their servers succesfully with speex. However, I also notice that none of them have responded to requests to post their configs or to elaborate on the file setup - consequently I take their comments with a pinch of salt <_<

Sorry peeps - will keep checking.

Not what I read the other day.  I'll go try to find the page again - it was listed under 'common problems in Source' and noted as one which people often forget to increase the quality level.  Not sur eof it was that specific command, but it was on a page of tweaks and tips for Steam and specifically Source.

I'll be on CS : S Friday probably aswell, me needs some Eagle practice for the LAN. :devil:
