Title: Monday Night PoE
Post by: Anonymous on September 06, 2006, 09:27:33 PM
OK, since we got 1.4 installed and PoE seems to be patched who fancies some Monday night BF2:PoE goodness.

I can stick the MH password on the server so we can embarras ourselves in privacy as we try to get to grips with it. There is a map designed for infantry only called "Fallen" How's about we start with that and see how it goes?

All those interested post below :)

I got 1.4 installed and been trying to get POE but all the links seem to take about 7 hours to download. Just in case you are not aware I am having hassle with my connection re-synching at an annoying high frequency.
What I'm trying to say is does anyone have a link to a fast download site, and not a torrent as I don't have a torrenty client.
Ta muchly in advance like

Right I've whinged to BT and they have finally raised a case to look at it. I thought they did this when I first whinged on the 10th August, but apparently there isn't one, or even when I re-raised it last week, :taz:
Found a reasonably fast link downloading at 238kb/s. Fingerscrossed my line lasts that long.
Thanks for the offers lads, depending on the result I might take you up on them. 8)

So I might not be on tonight. Trying again and I have about 1 hour to go.

Don't bother, it was cack. Most of the guys couldn't join squads because of some silly bug or other :(

So we moved to the BF2 server and people started getting kicked from the server for no good reason, me included, so I called it a night.

Will try to find some answers during the week to see if we can improve things for next week.
Title: Monday Night PoE

This squad-join bug usually lasts one game only.

Can we turn off the "kick if not in a squad" thing on the POE server to give us a chance to get into the game.

I didn't have any problems creating or joining squads on POE - very odd.

Right! Squadless kicker removed from both servers (you cant remove it from just one as it is a shared install).

I can join the poe2 server fine and can join a squad. Can one of the guys who was having probs last night (OB? Lib?) please try the POE server and let me know how it is?

Cheers

I've been playing some PoE the last few days at the office and the mod is really great. I really hope that we can get another game going soon :flirty:

I tend to have some "lag" though, which I blame on my AC'97-compliant on-board sound card. Even though it is a SoundStorm card it will be seen as only AC '97 :( I have tried to reconfigure the settings but to no avail.

When there are too many sounds playing at the same time, with EAX enabled, the game lags irregularly. It has no relation to load on the graphics card.

Post by: BigFatCat on September 12, 2006, 05:11:18 PM
Isn't EAX only effective on SoundBlaster hardware? I remember reading it somewhere.

I'll be on server tonight from about 8 if anyone wants to drop by and see if PoE works now we have removed the squad kicker. It is possible that the squad kicker was conflicting with the bugfix which prevents you from "squad hopping".

"I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster for "Insufficient O/S Privileges"?
Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it.
http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/VX2Finder(126).exe (http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/VX2Finder(126).exe)
Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.
Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:
Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button"

do the above and then follow the instructions also below to update your punkbuster( as with games it gets updated, althou after doing the above it may no need patched )

Well, okay, probably.

We were fine on the first map, it was after the server restart that we couldn't join a squad on our side. We flipped over to the other side and we were fine.

Probably just a bug that would have sorted itself out.

But more likely, just me an OB being silly! (http://home.btconnect.com/liberator/tease.gif)

You need two players to fully operate it. One drives, another shoots. You can of course shift seats. The gun rotates very slowly, but the shots it fires are like artillery drops and can destroy anything in one shot - even several jeeps.
I have not yet used the transfer of coordinates, but based on what I've read (and tried) they players with binoculars look at a target and press fire. You then have 10 seconds to switch to your walkie talkie to transfer. But, with the walkie I have tried pressing fire several times but nothing happens.

Using the artillery to sweep a base before moving in is really good 8)

I found this pdf (http://www.pointofexistence.com/Downloads/PoE2_Manual.pdf)
QuoteArtillery
Arty Tips:
-Line up your shot using the mini map icon in HEAP view.
-Find a nice spot to camp with a great view of the map.
-Get a commanders crate.
-Use small movements when adjusting your shot.
-You can only spot when a player is in the arty gunner seat.
- Always spot when asked… you get points for assist kills!
Arty Tutorial Video:
- Arty Use (http://pointofexistence.com/linkpics/PoE2_Arty_Demonstration.zip)
-Counter Measures Ground - In PoE we have provided true smoke counter measures. When in a ground vehicle
that has counter measures and you hear a lock on warning that means something big and bad is aiming at you such as
a HOT3 AT missile from a Tiger. The timing of hitting X (Your counters) could save your life... or at least prolong it in
game. This feature will at least give you a chance to fight back and hopefully force the aggressor into a bad situation
where a teammate can put pressure on him or allow you to escape or fire back.

you were getting close but i just keep moving a little and you didnt get me:narnar:

but ive seen these things fire in a program on discovery, and they link about 20 of these together and spread them out in a wide area and then using computers they can all fire at various times that the computer controls so that they can put 20 rounds on the target at exactly the same time and can each fire 20 rounds a min due to an auto loader so thats 400 heavy artil shells in a very small area of about 2 k squared in 1 min

awesome or what
