Difference might be that the ppl God killed came to heaven, the rest who didnt make it would be claimed by satan sooner or later. Satan killed 10 according to the bible, they are swimming in fire as we speak. So if you look at a God vs. Satan graph that illustrates how many ppl that went to a "better" place after killed, Satan has 0% but God sure has to have more than 0%.
Oh, and mind you, I dont believe in this. But for ppl that needs something to believe in, you wont get a better deal than religion. This is scientificaly proved bu that you have to "invent" religion in Civ? (or am I completely wrong?)

come to think of it, western civilisation cherishes and praises violence and murder, sad really. Negative, if you believe in one relegion, you cant believe in the other one, as you stated. If you dont believe in any of the others you cant go to hell, because you believe and practice the relegion that brings you to heaven, none of the other relegions can bring you to hell if you believe in the one you're practicing.

Hinduism is kind of Pan theism with several Gods manifested in nature. While Christianity and Islam is believeing in "the one god". For me, God isnt different amongst the religions, it is just a mere focus point of them.
Religion, it means not more than a joke for so many of you. I`m afraid that for you ppl religion mean so little oposed to the ppl that has strong beliefs. That is why the mockings posted here mean so little in comparison to what religion mean to believers.
Ppl judge religions from what the followers of that religion does. Ppl within the same religion has different ways as how to follow it. Nowadays in most cases, fundamentalist or radicalists will make it to the headlines. This is how most ppl make their opinions about religion.
When I walk the streets and some dress clad pair of recruiters try to stop me and give me pamphlets (see them often in Tokyo, Americans, dont know what religion) I think that if they approach me, I`m going to be insanely rude to them. Why? Because I dont like have other ppl force their beliefs on me. That is the point with religion I dont like.
And I hope a majority in here doesnt get married in a church, hypocrites.
I dont think of myself as a Christian, I wouldnt be worthy. I`d be too fast to pray in times when I needed help or orientation, but I`d forget to thank those times when I am fortunate. But that is Christianity, right? The Christian God knows this about humans, and this makes him a merciful God.
And about Islam; I think since most of the islamic countries were Theocracies before (meaning the ruler was a manifestation of their god "Shadow of Allah on earth") Islam has so much complexity in it when it comes to rules and laws. Sometimes I hear on the news or ppl say, it is the damned religion that makes them do it. But it is their civilisation and fundamental structure of society build on their holy book that makes it that way. It isnt a disorder. And I am not saying it is wrong, only different.
Please not that I`m not quoting from books and or getting this stuff from the web, so it there is any wrongs in here (Spare me for the "jesus is a dork" like comments please) or anyone that is offended, it was not intentional, it is because Ì dont know better, but I am willing to listen as to learn.

I was for a long time what I would call an atheist (imo a person who doesn't believe in any gods, while UFO's, ghosts and such is ok), but lately I've become more and more uncertain of that..
Even tho my mother is a priest (irl and not in WoW) I don't believe in God the same way has her or my father.. As I said Im not entirely certain what I believe atm, but if there is indeed a dude up there in the skies, I believe in him for the sole reason that I need someone to blame..
The way the world is build up and events happen all over the world, I need a god to control our actions, because I would rather not see the humankind as selfdetermaned. If we humans decided what we want to do all by ourselves we are indeed nothing but pure evil.. All the war, murder, raping, detroying of the world and such is either done by God himself or by humankind itself.
If there is no god and everything we do, is made by choices we decide to make then the world consist by nothing but pure evil.. But if there is a god up there in the skies, I got someone to blame for both my own and the entire humankind's actions..
All the unfortunate things that has happend to me during my life, Id rather see a god to blame for that, than myself.. If I was the sole reason for all the stupid things I've done in my life (with btw hasn't been that long so far) I would become rather depressed..
All Im saying is, that I think I believe in God, however not the way as most ppl might do.. I need someone to blame, cos Id rather not blame myself for making the choices I've made in my life..

Most of those 'holy' books say both: 'Thou shall not kill', but also 'and eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth' in some form or another. So it's ok to kill someone if you're not the one who started it? Revenge is ok and they praise 'forgiveness' at the same time? Anything written in text is ambigious as hell. And that's exactly what the problem is with any of these books/scriptures.
And besides that: isn't sacrificing animals killing too?

Just to give some examples. Was civilization started by two people? No of course not; dinosaurs anyone? People also used to think thunder was a 'punishment of the gods'; the sky was falling on their heads. Now we laugh at them, because we know it's just a natural phenomenon.
Some of these religions might even have been founded with ulterior motives: centralization of wealth, power and idiology. Sound familiar anyone? This is a far more logical explaination for their existance, then them being true imo. Which may also be the reason why certain religions have a direct link with an empire. Like the romans, the greeks and the egyptians for example. Just a tool to unite people under a common banner and to control them without them even noticing it. All of this is just speculation of course, but it sounds plausible to say the least.
Everyone is free to believe what he/she wants, as long as you don't bother anyone else with it (especially not me :tongue: ).
Well, im no prayer, i do alot of stuff i shouldnt do, we all do. But the thing about relegion, is how you "read" it, how you understand it. Relegions didnt do anything, the people who believed in relegion did it. Some relegions have stronger messages/ easy to "read" evil stuff. But i'll bet you 100bucks that there isnt any relegion that tells you to go crazy and destroy stuff.
The thing i like about christianity,is that its fairly free, i dont convert people, i dont push my relegion on people, i dont judge anyone for what their beliefs is or isnt. I judge people of how they behave.
Try to push your relegion down my throat and i'll have my hand down your throat.(yeah right)

Just think of it, WE, humans and other life is just another natural phenomenon. Without a god we are just left to ourselves. If the humans are just left to ourselves, we will eventually wither away. Howcome? Because withouth God you have Darwinism, the natural evolution. We atm have no control nor clue as to how we or our sorroundings will end up in say 2000 years, that is IF we dont destroy ourselves or the planet, will the planet destroy us? If there is nothing more to us humans than mere the luck of accidental merging of cells in a puddle of water - if we are just a part of what can be called life on earth, then we arent worth nothing if nature wants to claim us back, if evolution takes a U turn. We all like to feel special, as a part of something. Noone likes a chaos of threads they dont understand, atleast they are willing to postpone it until they ie at their deathbeds. I guess (it is a wild guess) that most ppl think about the reason for their existence once in a while, but I think that the followers of most religions are the one thinking about it most, and in some way or partially because of their religion _have_ a reason for living. This is what differentiates the humans from the animals. They stopped reaching just for the bananas, but for what is beyond.

I think in most religiously free countries that you dont need more than 10 or so "members" of your own "religion" to register it and make it a oficcial one. - Without ulteriour motives: is there any such thing? MAybe "god" gets bonus mileage when travelig around if he has a high believer rating but he is wooeing us, and if he is doing so in a merciful giving way, embrace it. If you are a devil worshipper, you prob. like what your god has to offer.
For the players that played WoW from "the start": Most of you have probably spent more times Playing WoW thant what time it would have taken you during your whole lifetime to be a average Christian, maybe a christian with a pretty desent church turnup rate too. Think about what is a waste of time. :whistle:

But as how you said it yourself: if Jesus took the burden of our sins, then you can act as if you had a "carte blance". But remember that this religion isnt this easy, as you need to see things in context. So with the intention of doing wrong, and deliberately planning on claim the "Jesus died for me" when your time is up....naaah, It would not work this way. Ppl still go to hell you know. And this would certainly speed up the paperwork time for your sake.
