Title: Another format change?
Post by: Sn00ks on September 11, 2006, 01:14:06 PM
Following on from Oldie's comments last night I was wondering if it would be worth having shorter tracks when there are only a few of us racing. This would make it more likely that you'd be racing alongside someone and jostling for position. Just thought it would make for more interesting racing rather that having one person sailing off into the sunset and ending up hot-lapping.
We could even increase the number of laps accordingly so race times would be similar, i.e. 20 laps on club circuits and maybe even two pitstops?

It's difficult, there's times when someone's fast in one car on one track but drives like a hearse on others. How can you even the playing field to give competitive racing without enforcing a handicap when a server's open?

Perhaps Deetz and L56 should be made to drive Fiat 126s?

We used to restrict Deetz to the Fiat Abarths on GTL and he still whooped us! I think maybe a bicycle or roller-skates would do it.  We could then 'door-handle' them a bit

I can't say that I'm feeling a need for evening the field at the moment. I'm still learning and have a greater challenge against the tracks and cars than I do opponents.
I know I've quit a session because I didn't want much faster drivers to have to drive round what's left of my car.  It is much more enjoyable when there's a visible, dynamic gap to an opponent but I'm normally not involved at the sharp end of things. If I know someone's faster then me when I'm struggling, I'll usually let them through as I don't want them to suffer in my impending accident.
On a public server, we can't really impose any restrictions on people apart from those of us here. Someone who just ambles along from the outside and find themselves subject to a rule change may not increase the numbers on the server.

I don't know of a solution to the situation, but Deetz and L56 should def be made to race in Yugo 45s.

You do yourself a dis-service. You don't lack speed as much as consistancy. Hang in there bro'. You(one) can get so involved in a battle you(one) can forget to drive, then off into the scenery you(one) go(goes).
