Title: Dr00d gear
Post by: Vargen on September 14, 2006, 02:41:40 AM
Just wondering what gear the different Druids are going for atm.
I myself have full Stormrage atm, and I really see no point in changing it out with anything other then Dreamwalker. Any other views on the Genesis set?

As for weapons I have decided to trade my current Claw of Chromaggus  (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=49622)+ Trance Stone (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52198), for Blessed Qiraji Augur Staff (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52896).
Later going for The End of Dreams (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=53873) with some nifty offhand and ultimatly Atiesh, Greatsta of the Guardian (http://www.wowwiki.com/Atiesh%2C_Greatstaff_of_the_Guardian).

Stormrage (Tier 2) (http://thottbot.com/?set=214)
Armor: 1292
Sta: 122
Int: 177
Spi: 103
2%crit (Spell)
20 Mana/5 sec
275 +healing
Resist
Fire: 40
Nature: 10
Frost: 10
Shadow: 30
Arcane: 10

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
3: Allows 15% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting.
5: Reduces the casting time of your Regrowth spell by 0.2 sec.
8: Increases the duration of your Rejuvenation spell by 3 sec.

Genesis (Tier 2.5) (http://thottbot.com/?set=493) has 5 not 8 items
Armor: 982
Str: 67
Agi: 63
Sta: 97
Int: 95
Spi: 44
3% Crit (Melee)
1% Crit (Spell)
11 Mana/5 sec
122 +Spells (Damage/Healing)

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
3: +150 Armor.
3: Increased Defense +15.
5: Reduces the cooldown of Rebirth by 10 minutes.

Using Stormrage Gloves, Bracers and Belt with the Genesis set will add:
Armor: 364
Sta: 36
Int: 57
Spi: 37
4 Mana/5 sec
101 +Healing
Shadow res: 10

Dreamwalker (Tier 3) (http://thottbot.com/?set=521)
Armor: 1456
Sta: 175
Int: 205
Spi: 130
35 Mana/5 sec
473 +Healing

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
2: Your Rejuvenation ticks have a chance to restore 60 mana, 8 energy, or 2 rage to your target.
4: Reduces the mana cost of your Healing Touch, Regrowth, Rejuvenation, and Tranquility spells by 3%.
6: Your initial cast and Regrowth ticks will increase the maximum health of your target by up to 50, stacking up to 7 times.
8: On Healing Touch critical hits, you regain 30% of the mana cost of the spell.

Seems you forget the bonus for wearing 3 items with the combined set Genesis and Stormrage. Also the Tier 3 set contains 9 items.

Should be (mind the italic):
Using Stormrage Gloves, Bracers and Belt with the Genesis set will add:
Armor: 364
Sta: 36
Int: 57
Spi: 37
4 Mana/5 sec
101 +Healing
Shadow res: 10
The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
3: Allows 15% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting.

Maybe you can replace them for Cenarion Gloves, Bracers and Belt:
Armor: 326
Sta: 40
Int: 54
Spi: 38
4 Mana/5 sec
33 + Healing
The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
Damage dealt by Thorns increased by 4 and duration increased by 50%.

Nah, stick with the +3 set items from Stormrage,

At the moment I would like to finish my Stormrage but I'm thinking to grab some of the Genesis set (if the balance tree is not being buffed just for soloing, if blizzard buffs the balance tree in BC i'll respec to balance).

At the moment I have Mace of Unending Life (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=21407) and I'd like to change it with Lok'amir il Romathis (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19360) and the Fire Runed Grimoire (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19142) with Master Dragonslayer's Orb (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19366).

If I decide not to respec I'd like to have Blessed Qiraji Augur Staff (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52896) and later End of Dreams (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=53873) and the Dreamwalker Set.

This is what I'm currently going for:
Feral is the stuff I would like to have and the healing gear, ... well I need that because they expect ferals to heal during raids <_< .
And btw, my profile has a wish list i you're wondering what I'm aiming for.

Feral:
MC:
Heavy Dark Iron Ring (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37315)
Prio: MT's. Better for ferals because of the 360% armor bonus in bear; but since I'm currently not allowed to use forms in raids  , I will pass for MT1 and MT2 for the benefit of the raid.

BWL:
Malfurion's Blessed Bulwark (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=41292)
Prio: Feral. High armor.

Drake Fang Talisman (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=43878)
Prio: Rouge/Fury/Hunter.
This is a great tanking trinket to complement my Stormpike Insignia Rank 6 (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51469). (Although it sucks not being able to get the Mark of Tyranny (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=13103), because I picked the wrong reward a year ago  ).

Boots of the Shadow Flame (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51944)
Prio: Feral. High armor/sta gear.

World dragons:
Dark Heart Pants (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52302)
Prio: Feral. No rouge should want this and if they do I'll kill them   ; both NS and BF are better and they are by far the best feral pants. There is no viable alternative for us, so please do not touch them!

Healing:
MC:
Cenarion Vestments (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37303)

Cenarion Boots (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=27204)

Staff of Dominance (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37319)
Prio: All casters.

BWL:
Item Set: Stormrage Raiment (http://www.thottbot.com/?set=214)

World dragons:
Staff of Rampant Growth (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52191)
Prio: Druid, Priests got benediction.

And about Genesis. I haven't had a serious look at it really. Looks to be nice hybrid gear. However I prefer specialized gear sets myself. I don't know of any encounters which require you to both off-tank for a longer period of time and heal as well. So I don't see any use for this set in current end game encounters. But like I said before, I haven't really had a good look at it  .

My list is pretty similar to Sandrion

Feral

Belt of Never-ending Agony (http://thottbot.com/?i=53385)
Dark Heart Pants (http://thottbot.com/?i=52302) or Sentinel's Lizardhide Pants (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=53606)
Guise of the Devourer (http://thottbot.com/?i=52604)
Malfurion Blessed Bulwark (http://thottbot.com/?i=41292) or Ghouls Skin Tunic (http://thottbot.com/?i=53702)
The End of Dreams (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=53873)
Wristguards of Stability (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=40407) or Forest Stalker's Bracers (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=40725)

I'm kind of a sucker for those  sets - just like to collect 'em to have 'em
But I won't priotitize the Genesis set at least.

Will try to make up a list in one of the nearest days, so I know myself what I really want.  But anything that boosts my mana and +healing is good :thumbsup2:

Meh, the WSG stuff takes to long to obtain.

And btw Sentinel's Lizardhide Pants (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=53606) are hybrid, Sentinel's Leather Pants (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=53615) are better if you're looking for an addition to your tanking set. They will give you more armor because of the agility (1 agi = 2 armor). It has 18 agi more, so will have you 6 armor more (6 * 3.6 * 1.1 = 24 AC in bear; not much, but still). Additionally you will also receive nearly 1% dodge more from them. It will also give you more crit%. Which is nice for the following reasons:
1. Crits refund 5 rage in bear (if you got the talents), which is obviously usefull.
2. Crits cause an insane amount of threat, which is nice too  .

For the same reason Forest Stalker's Bracers (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=40725) > Wristguards of Stability (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=40407), although they're nice too.

Apart from Belt of Never-ending Agony (http://thottbot.com/?i=53385) and Guise of the Devourer (http://thottbot.com/?i=52604), this is pretty nice AQ40 feral stuff too :dribble: :

Ring of Emperor Vek'lor (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52887)
Prio: Tanks. Mmmm armor....

Hive Tunneler's Boots (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52676)
Prio: Feral. Apart from the high stamina, it's worse then BF.

Gloves of the Hidden Temple (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52837)
Prio: Feral. BF is slightly better.

Mantle of Wicked Revenge (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52668)

Prio: Rouges, because of the very high Agi, it's a lot better then BF, so they should get this first. Highlander's Leather Shoulders (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=51559) are better for tanking, but grinding rep with a PvP faction is boring and takes too long

@Sandrion
The problem with the current armor sets is that feral armor leaves you unable to do heals, and the heal bot armor leaves you unable to feral.

Hence for a fight where one would expect to do both (maybe fights like nefarion) genesis armor would be cool

Also i dont think any1 would mine you going feral on trashmobs as long as your healing on bosses / when it goes sour

The trash mobs at Nefarion where also the first thing that popped to my mind. It might be nice for that fight. But there you're only job (as a druid) is to bring them back to a tank group when they break and run off, if I'm correct? I'm assuming that they don't hit all that hard. Your default caster/healing gear should suffice there, since it has semi-decent armor and stamina. At least in theory, I can't confirm it since I've never actually been at Nefarion  . Genesis may be usefull in fights where you're required to both heal and use your forms for a longer period of time. But I can't think of any encounters in the current end game that require you too  . If there are, it would be nice to have this set  .

Btw, yesterday they called on me to tank at the core packs  . Unfortunately it took a bit too long to set my gear up properly, so I got replaced  . I don't really have a proper FR feral set yet, so I didn't have one set up in my itemrack. Scavenging the right gear together can take some time if you got several bags filled with the stuff. If I run in with my healing or regular tanking gear on I'll probably die pretty fast and that's no good to anyone  .

On the trashmobs we should be fine with the healing (most of the time), so I'll have a word with the marshals; see if they mind if I go feral in MC if the curcumstances allow it.

Well if you watched our Nefarian kill video, you see me charging around picking up loose adds, and bringing them back. I was only using normal caster gear then. They really don't hit that hard.

You're not hitting very hard either in that video tbh  ; normal hits +/- 120, maul crits of 444  . Do they have that much armor? I'm assuming it's not much of a problem since they're being AoEed down; but doesn't that ever give you problems with keeping aggro?

But back on topic: I'm hoping to see some nice feral pieces in the expansion. The stuff listed in this thread will probably become obsolete very soon  . Preferably with a classes: druid label on it, too keep the rouges away from it  .

With caster gear I don't hit verry hard, but a taunt and FFFeral is usually enough. They are dead so fast anyways. Even with my tanking gear I only hit for 600 and crit for about 900. Though if I drop about 1k aromor I get above 1k on maul.

As for the gear, I really woul like them to make a pure feral set, or maybe even a set that you could transform, kind of like the Priest Anathema/Benediction. Would be awesome with a 9 Part set like Dreamwalker where you could have a 9 part setbonus to use the ring or something to transform the entire set into a feral or a balance set. Maybe a 30 min cooldown on it or so. Even better would be if you had a set that transformed as you shifted form to give you the stats you need.

Well there is some dicussion about 'on equip' bonusses on druid items as well.

So you'll get items with stats like:
200AC
20int
10spi
on equip: 10 str and 20 sta in bear and cat.

So when you shift you gain stats that are usefull in that form. Kind of like the +AP bonusses on druid weapons.

I'm not entirely sure if this was just a suggestion on the forums or something they are really considering though  .

Well you could do that for the druid, but for the other hybrids, like pallies, that don't change form you would need another system.

New Itemization!!
Quote from: Kalgan @ US ForumsThere is a tier 4 set for most builds for each class.

The boss drops a "token" for a certain slot for a certain set of classes (it's not really called a "token", but I'm speaking of it mechanically here), which you then turn in for the type of set piece of your choice (ie: for a warrior, the tanking plate or the dps plate, or for a druid you choose between the healing, moonkin, or feral gear).

Nice one! :yahoo: :woot2: :yahoo:

Alright! :yahoo: .

Finally Blizz is giving itemization some love (the druid itemization in particular). Lets hope we'll get more variation in terms of end game roles as well. Druids shouldn't be healing all the time, they should utilize all there forms; adeptability is our strength. At least it looks like the new talents and gear are reinforcing this.
