Well from out first experence last night I though I might put down a few thoughts on how to go ahead next time. Please add anything you think may help.
1. Shadow Res on locks. With 318 on and 7.1k hp I was taking 600 damamge shadowbolts which wasnt bad at all. All was fine on the second try until 2nd switch when I got knocked back and seems to loose a bit of healing, the pet died and as the sb's are relentless I was soon to follow.
I am interested to hear what shadowbolt hits other people were taking (and what your SR was at the time) to see if max SR is really needed or wether it would be better with an voidwalker to sacrifice as a shield at the switch. Or indeed if lower SR and and an Imp would be better as other groups can then get the imp buff..
2. Just watched a video where the locks were given priest shields while taking, again this would help.
3. Out of interest what is the current tank SR levels? I spoken to a few people who say they use locks just for the pull and after the first switch tanks take over. If we have enough with decent SR that could be a viable option as we managed for a while (after I died) and our tanks did well with the switches.
4. One video I watched had the tanks tank the emp with thier backs to the wall (and up close to the wall as well) with the emp facing him and not the raid, that seemed to work well for positioning.
5. Whoever tanks needs more HP. On the first try I could only get 6.5k hp with max SR and that was with lung juice etc and was nuked pretty fast. On the second attempt with 7.1k hp lasted quite a bit longer and made a difference. A jump to 8k in future attempts again I would imagine would show a bigger improvement.
Just some of the thoughts that have popped into my head this morning, if you have any stick 'em down.
The main reason you were lacking healing was because you were too far away from the healers to start with and when you got knocked back even further on the wrong side even the few healers that had moved were out of range.
As for the reason to have a warrior VS a warlock tanking is that a warrior can't do any aggro generating ability to him, but a warlock can easily get higher aggro then mages, allowing for higher DPS. So if we were to only do damage on the melee one and have casters on bug duty, we could use a warrior in stead.
indeed,
warrs cant tank 'lor cos melee doesn't connect.
knockback seemed to come from the arcane explosions.
one thing I noticed, aren't the hunters meant to pull the bug adds to the middle away from the emps, so dps can hit them? I say this because, one or more of the following was happening:
hunters weren't pulling bugs to middle.
dps was going on bugs before hunters pulled.
all bugs were not being tanked.
what happens then is that the bug tanks (me and dajo) had to run all over the shop, which, when slowed by blizzard is impossible), , they explode, hit people, knockback, all goes to hell.
So all I would ask is PLEASE LET THE HUNTERS PULL THE BUGS TO THE MIDDLE before you touch them. I know 2 instances on the second attempt where bugs were being hammered right next to emperor 'lash, if it aint in the middle, don't fecking touch it. Another example, Vargen on ts 'why is there a bug on me?' answer, it hasnt been pulled to the middle, tanks can't run from bugs on one side to the other in time. If you see a bug, I don;t care what it's doing to you, don't do a thing until it's pulled to the middle and tanked. Otherwise, dajo and I end up on 2 bugs on one side, a bug pops up on the other side, a) we don't see it right away, b) by the time we run over there, it's gone boom, and some members are either down/out of healing range, or out of range TO heal others.
If you see a bug and it's not in the middle, shout a hunter, any hunter, because as soon as a bug is near the middle, me or dajo can hit it, then dps can take it down, they don't have much hp.
Hope the message is thru now, if we are forced to move to one side we *CANNOT* get the other side
If I see people hitting bugs offcentre I'll shout till your ears fall off
ty, Umbra out
Just read something interesting and I will make sure i have some Greater Arcane Prot pots for next time to soften the knockback effect if it happens.
I like suggestions and i dont think i've been doing a boss battle where SOG didnt tweak the tactics to make sure that we had the best options necessary
I do feel however we need a lot more time with these guys to see how it works, and then see how we can tweak things to our advantage
There seemed to come a arcane explosion from the non mele one just after 10 sec teleport warning. Nexst time I wil try to run into pos after 10 sec warning insted fo standing there alalong.
In the 2 tries we did yesterday I got aggro in both the occasions but I can't explain myself why.
-They have proximity aggro (--> I was far from both, I healed like I normally do & I had BoS on me)
-Both tank were up
Just posting this to make sure I know what not to do in the fight...
For what concerns healing I was in the middle of the room with casters and ranged dps, these are easily reachable from healing spells but from that position is fairy difficult to heal both tanks.
You are NOT supposed to tank the bugs that explode, they should be avoided by the melee, only the melee bugs that spawn around Vek'nilash are supposed to be tanked and killed by casters. And Vek'lor should just be avoided by everyone but the tanks. Tanks need to have thier backs to the walls because of the knockback, pretty obvious.
And any caster can pull the melee bugs into the right place, and they should as hunters are needed to do dmg on vek'nilash, 5 rogues cant kill him in 15 min.

Kinda important that happens IMO, locks and warriors.
whichever bugs that needed to be hit by me and dajo, were not pulled to the middle and were being melee'd elsewhere. not sure its obvious what the difference is between the bugs we do hit and the bugs we dont hit, since all i see is a big bug ganking someone
bdw, when i was on 12k armor, i was bieng hit for 2k
so healing must be much faster, remember that if you aint full health he can 1shot a tank with unbalancing strike
Umbra:
The bugs that need tanking only spawn at one side at a time. And I belive when I said something about bugs on TS I was refering to having lots of the small "neutral" ones on me becasue someone had done AOE.
Gorion:
When you didn't get healed, you were about 100 yards away from the closest healer. That will be fixed once you get the position right as you have 5 healers just for you at that point.
So watch some videos, prefrebly some that involve your role and PoV. I really don't know how to deal with the bugs in a good way, but I will have a closer look at the curse-guild vido, as it shows how they do it.
u get knowcked back if u stay too close too soon to the warrior emperor (he kicks you in the balls + knockback) if u go in the middle of the legs when the 5sec left message popps out all should be fine
@Strontium, when naked pulled the first time (so no SR) shadowbolt hit me for 4.5k dmg
Some guilds only pull the non mele one with the loc then have a warrior tank him byh using demoralising shouts and proximity, and mele down the other . Leaving the casters free to take the adds. (used by a horde guild with no BoS on the healers)
As for the standing with back to the wall, ewen when dooing this you may skid allong the wall , and kinda hard to be kicked in 90 degres at the wall . Tho standing with my back to a wall not seeing any of the fight is normal for me ;P
Vargen, ahhh, the neutral ones, lol aoe is a bad thing. The big bugs may spawn one at a time, but you can definitely have 2 or maybe more up at once if they aren't taken down fast.
What I was mainly getting at is that i didn't see a single big/nasty bug in the centre and it made me cry
