Could I have some opinions on the following as I feel we are stretching things a bit by having four CS servers running and most of the time not doing anything?
My proposal is to shutdown Razer, as trying to recruit into CZ in my opinion is flogging a dying (if not dead) horse.
Convert MeatHook to be the community CS:Source server and open up Boomer to the public to try and help recruitment. I know CS:Source is a much larger resource hog than CZ, so if this is not possible then I think we should take the password off Boomer and then just set the password for Friday nights.
For CZ we could change the password/description of Baldric to the community password (like MeatHook now) and the Match Admin could apply the match password in preparation for any matches. This would just be in the interim before converting fully to CS:Source. :g:
I got no problem with that As long as we communicate it in advance there shouldn't be too much of an outcry.

Ahem! Four cs servers? Far too many. 1 CS:Source, 1 CS:CZ (matches) even closing it (the Source server) seems to me to be unneccessary. It's not as if we're bursting at the seams as in the days of yore when The Meathook was full, another game started on er...forget what it was called.:doh:

Personally, I'd be happy with only the two Source servers, one that we have as a public and one as a private/match server but most of the people who currently play CS (CZ) matches would rather keep playing CZ in matches.
This is a decision we need to make collectively but I would rather switch to Source for matches as I think this is the best way to grow the community and the number of people playing CS matches.
I'm pretty much in agreement with Whitey here. I don't think the overhead will be a problem, so if OB agrees then make it so. I assume you've checked the ED CS:S scene?

The ED CS:S scene is a LOT bigger than CZ. they have 246 teams in the open ladder and 77 in the entry one.
I'd be inclined to poll the people you know will play matches and ask them, via a PM, which they'd play. The options would be:
1. Only CZ
2. Only CS:S
3. Either but prefer CZ
4. Either but prefer CS:S
I know it seems the sensible and obvious thing to do to switch to CS:S but we have to respect the views of our members.

I have had a chat with a few of the regulars and although some still prefer CZ for matches most would be willing to change (only 1 person I spoke to didn't sound like they'd play CS:Source matches but they don't have Source). I think the couple we'd lose would hopefully be made up for by players who would play Source matches but are not interested in CZ.
Can we get some of the changes mentioned above implemented please. It would be good to get Meathook onto Source, shutdown Razer and open up Boomer to the public. :smile:
