The boy's name Bob is pronounced bob. It is of Old English (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/old+english) origin. Short (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/short) form of Robert (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Robert), of later coinage than Hob, Dob, and Nob. Bobbie (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Bobbie) and Bobby are pet (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/pet) forms, though Bobbie (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Bobbie) is more frequently used for girls. While Bobby was common for children in the 1950s (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/1950s) and '60s, Robert (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Robert) today is more likely to be shortened (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/shortened) to Robbie or Rob (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Rob) instead of the pedestrian Bob. Comedian (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/comedian) Bob Hope; singer (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/singer) Bob Dylan; chess master (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/master) Bob Fischer; actor (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/actor) Billy (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/search/1/billy) Bob Thornton.

I had a minor hope that Threb perhaps would do the trick, but obviously I was wrong.  But than again, the large amount of alcohol that were precent didn't either help too much I think
