Cheers for the freebie Oldie..
BTW one of the previous numbers you gave us few months back(i kept the dial up for posterity) was also back in operation again - presumably these numbers are cycled

Sorry 128'ers.

Just got this ...

Yup, its that time again when all good things come to an end.

Users of the 128k Trial should be aware that the trial will be ceased in
the next few days (some time early next week), at which point the 0800
number will be taken out of service).

My boss got dual channel isdn for flat rate £35 month. Dont know who he is with but if anyone is interested I'll find out (he seems pretty happy with them and seems to get pings around the 100ms mark which aint bad.

Post by: smite on February 01, 2003, 06:02:50 PM
It is quite bad actually as even with the shite isp i have i get between 50-70 on a good day but it just isnt reliable.
Oldies free number gave me a reliable 40-60.

Actually even on one line at 64k i get 60 but it needs to be reliable and stable.
Im with Giointernet (£28 a month) which promissed me that they were OK for gaming and then are not and strangely when i tried to cancel my subscription i cannot get hold of them by any means and when i tried to cancel the transactions on my credit card my CC company need a letter off me as to what i have done to sort the problem out with them.....so sod em im just gona pay the card off and close it.

OOOooops ranting ..i did contact another company (cant remember name) and also asked them what there service was like for gaming and they were honest enough to say Shit.
i need to start looking again this was 3 months ago and i just kept paying like a tart but now i have to do something.

Sadly i must report i am now replying at a 64kb connection because from this morning the 128 has gone down.
I got a few last minute 150meg d/l game demos(2 actually) but now because Oldie refuses to support his peers & fellow bretheren & clan members(the emotional blackmail is being piled on here) WE (isdners)are now  restricted to a snails pace B/width.

I for one will be looking for a 121 consultation at the Lan OLDIE :)

I'm afraid that rumour has it that both TeaLeaf and Smite have also gone the way of the 64k connection  :(

My search for more bandwidth has been narrowed down to these 128kbps providers:

http://www.123isp.co.uk/residential.html (http://www.123isp.co.uk/residential.html)
http://www.4dinternet.co.uk/isdn.html (http://www.4dinternet.co.uk/isdn.html)

http://www.quikinternet.co.uk/internet/index.php# (http://www.quikinternet.co.uk/internet/index.php#)

http://www.wisesurfer.com/isdn.html (http://www.wisesurfer.com/isdn.html)

I will be posting some more detailed feedback in due course.  Why the delay I hear you ask?  Because my connection speed is soooo damn slow it takes that long for the fekin web page to load   :x

Most will charge you an arm and a leg to call, so I am trying to email q's to them and also look at external reviews of their performance to give me some idea of which to sign up with.  I'll post my summary findings back in due course.
