Title: invalid cd key
Post by: Stryker on October 12, 2006, 07:35:22 PM
I tried joining the MH BF2 server the other day and it said my cd key was invalid...... in fact any public server says this.  I'd not played on a public server for a long time..... so what gives?  I'm up to p 1.4

One of tha patches (I think 1.3) screws up the way the key is stored in the registry. It happened to me too ages ago. IIRC I found an answer on the web and it wasn't too painful to implement. Sadly, I can't remember what the answer.

Race you in google to see who can get it first :)

You must use the "C:\Program files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\Support\Battlefield 2_code.exe" to refresh the key in registry, and *then* run the "C:\Program files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2CDKeyCheck.exe".

"Battlefield 2_code.exe" will prompt for the key, and exit immediately after pressing button to continue.

"BF2CDKeyCheck.exe" will not open a window, so don't worry if you don't see anything happening.
