Title: Haifa Film Festival
Post by: Le Rouge on October 13, 2006, 11:23:13 PM
Each year, the city of Haifa, Israel, hosts an international film festival. This year, due to the war in the summer, we had only few visitors from abroad, but films from many countries were screened and here are my recommendations for some of the films that I have watched:

13 (http://www.haifaff.co.il/product_page_eng.asp?p_id=277) - disturbing and violent at times, this film sends a shaddering mesaage on the current society we live in. Highly recommended, great acting. Adults only due to the disturbing nature.

The Contract (http://www.haifaff.co.il/product_page_eng.asp?p_id=351) - a holywood thriller in which you can guess everything from the begining, but still entertaining as a DVD to watch at home, plus I always liked Jonh Cusak and Morgan Freeman. Some violence (shootouts), but not too much.

Derecho de Familia (http://www.haifaff.co.il/product_page_eng.asp?p_id=200) - Father/son relationship. both attorneys. Sensitive, funny at times.

Le Couperet (http://www.haifaff.co.il/product_page_eng.asp?p_id=312) - A family guy loses his job and is about to lose his family, so he starts killing the possible competitors/appelants for his next job interview. Sends a clear message on our somtimes over-capitalistic society, while being amusing and funny at times. The violence (killing) is there, but not for the sake of violence, so it's not difficult to watch.

All links are to EN pages of the festival, I hope they will continue to maintain them. I hope you will enjoy any of the above if you decide to watch them.
