i think i've got web space - i'm on btopenworld but ive never bothered looking into it. If i have what do i do with it.
Keep the answer to words of no more than 3 letters, lay the instructions out clearly and in a logically spelltt corect forrmat with a proficient 'HELP' index :)
You need the following
An FTP program to enable you to upload the pics to your web space. (SmartFTP is the best and it's completely free.) or using the example below you can do basic stuff (probably all you want to do) through Internet Explorer
The log on I.D. This is usually what you use for your dial up ID with BT.
A password. This is usually your dial up password.
Your URL format is probably something like:
http://username.users.btopenworld.com (http://username.users.btopenworld.com)
If you registered for a BTopenworld account before August 2001 you can use either of the following URL formats:
http://www.btinternet.com/~username (http://www.btinternet.com/~username)
http://www.username.btinternet.co.uk (http://www.username.btinternet.co.uk)
To upload your Homepage, you MUST be connected to your BTopenworld account. If you connect using another ISP, your login will fail.
1. Start Internet Explorer
2. In the Address bar type:
ftp://username:password@ftp.btinternet.com (ftp://username:password@ftp.btinternet.com)
3. Click [Go]
After a short while, you will be logged in.
4. Once you have logged in, the window behaves just like normal windows folder.
You can Drag & Drop or Copy & Paste files from your computer to the FTP window.
Once the pics are uploaded you just have to link to them. I'd create a folder on your web site called 'images' or something and drop them in there. The link would be
http://username.users.btopenworld.com/imag...s/dirty_pic.jpg (http://username.users.btopenworld.com/images/dirty_pic.jpg)
BTOpenworld offer absolutely no help other than on their web page (you can't phone anyone for help) so good luck
