Title: Stepping Down from RG2
Post by: Sheperdbook on October 20, 2006, 12:42:17 AM
Heya all,

Today I voluntarily asked to be demoted. I should explain quickly why for those who don't know why and also make my farewells to the Raid Group.

I am unable to raid on Tuesday evenings (my lectures finish at 19:00 and I usually have social/academic commitments during Tuesday evenings) and hence I would only be able to raid Thursday nights. As RG2 rules state that one must have 65% attendancy and that I could no longer meet this requirement (being able to attend only 50%) I asked to be demoted having discussed the issue with an Officer.

I'm quite upset about the whole event and I think I can say without any exceptions that I'll miss everyone in the raid group. I've spent over 200hrs now in MC and 40 in BWL with the guild and this is an unfortunate end to my raiding days with you all. I've always enjoyed the learning curve more than the farming (which just tends to irritate the hell out of me, especially when certain chestplates never drop lol!) and I had been enjoying the whole learning curve of BWL.

I accept Oneangel's apology in his post that the new schedule might not suit some people, I just hope that you have success in bringing back some of the people that previously couldn't do Monday nights.

Anyways as has always been my style I won't be leaving guild though I don't know how often I'll be around as there is now v little for me to do until BC (which is the reason why I took the OEB earlier as I need something to help me lvl quickly in BC and remind me of the good days of raiding with RG2!).

So good luck with BWL and I'll miss you all :byebye:.

Sheperdbook & Bambewhistle

PS RG2 members will have to moan to someone else now when they're lacking BoS! :narnar:

PSS Special thanks to all the pallies of RG2 (Daed, Gall, Bene, Buford, Werful and Lover). Also special farewells to Claw, Weird, Devout, Siffredi and Furiyan. And extra special thanks to the Officer team: Oneangel, Siffredi (again!), Sazgul, Greatdanes and Ubar.

PSSS Extra bountiful special thanks to all the mages for being the official fuel suppliers!

You better show up on the dot when we are suiting up for Arena matches in BC!
Glad you are staying in the guild though. Can't have our veterans leaving.
Too bad the raid schedule doesn't fit you mate, I know you have allways been a player with the 'right' attitude.
Playing the game for the game.

Shep, I will mis you in the class channel as normaly you spamming the channel making it hard to read out the buffs I handed out....

I do hope to see you back soon because with the BC coming the raid group will probably totaly different as only 25 men/women can join. So maybe there will be a spot for you after all.

Thanks for all the buffings you did and for now hope to see you back soon. Try to join with some 20 man raids with Bambewhistle.

So long mate......

Daedalus.

Noooo! nononononono!!! nooooooooooooooo! nonononono!!! Damnit Shep!! damnit i say ya!
You better get that damn school done in some very fast way so you can get back to raiding! ****! ****!
It just aint right

You've been in SOG a very long time.. you're, as vargen says, one of the veterans.. you've had problems with the raiding vs. school before and it just aint right that you should suffer once again! I saw this message coming when I saw the announcement about the raid being moved. I know you where one of the (unlucky) few who said that Tuesday was a no go for you.. Altho Im not really in RG2, I am still crying at this very moment (damn co-workers are looking weird at me <_< ) Damn damn! ****!!****!****!
I know that the Marshals in RG2 Prolly did it for the best of the RG, but the loss of Shep is a loos to be mourned.. I demand a 30 day mourning period on the entire Aszune server!! Hail Shep: Sheperd of books, guns, booze and everything else worth sheperding!

It's a hard decision when you have to stop doing something by reasons you don't have any power over youself.  Too bad this should be the case for you Shep

Good thing though that you're not leaving the guild!  I assume TBC can bring much goodies along, so it's hard to tell how things are gonna work out than.

Untill than, see you around in Azeroth Shep :byebye:

Woah Bene, you're more upset than I am! Cheer up if nothing else this development might actually mean I get some work done this year (hmmm, only need a 1.1 to get a 2.1 lol, easy if I actually try I reckon hehe).

Anyways I'll be back for BC so I hope some of you will still be able to tolerate a T1 dressed pally into you're lvl'ing groups hehe.

I'll try to be around for 20man raids now that they have restarted and I did say I wanted to help out with them some time ago!

Sad to see you leave (RG2), hope somehow, sometime, you might be able to work it out with the raid days, would be great.

It's always hard to see a good player leave us, you will be missed, who's gonne say "Tanks please remove your salvation" now. :)

Dont hesitate to sign up for queue for RG2 Thursday BWL runs.

And last but not least; Thank you for helping RG2 to the place they are today. You have your great share in RG2' success.

Shep can't leave, he's one of the original. that'd be like Vargen leaving. I hope the new 25man raids can have some kind of day offsets so that every combination of 2 or 3 days of raiding a week can be accounted for :D

Because I have the same problem of not being able to raid on Tuesdays, I will also step down from RG2. I was really annoyed to see after my 2 weeks off in England that RG2 has been scattered and needs to be reforged. This means extra time in MC again and such, which is something I dont want to do. The game should be fun to play and I get almost none of it out of Molten Bore, even if you grant me some nice items. I've been there enough and I'll stop raiding with any guild till atleast BC comes out. This way I can focus better on school because I haven't got the control to make my homework in the evenings if there's a raid aswell. So I think this would be the best solution for me.
I will stay in the guild, and help out in the occasions RG2, SoG One, 20 man or anyone needs me. :) Hope that RG2 can make it out of this dip and reorganise themselves and push on to Nefarion and even further :boxing:

Sorry but have to say thats a bit egoistic to think that way!

I myselfe dont need that much frome there anymore. I agree with you that it isent the same as it was when i was there the first times, but hey i will stay and join with plesure to help and gear the rest of the guild. We need as much help as we can get and i think within few months, if ppl stay and commit themselves to the raids and make and efford to improve, we will soon be raiding BWL see progress there.

Ofc it hurts everyone to see so meny good players and friends leave the guild aswell as step down, but that has to be accepted and lets just move on.

i have a good feeling with the "new" ppl we have brought into the guild. and surley we will soon se progress :)

It could be a bit egoistic Yrthal but those 3 factors added up:
-Cant commit fully to RG2 due to Tuesday as a raid day.
-Homework goes first, which I cant make myself if Im raiding in the evening
-Yet again Molten Core which I did enough and it becomes a job, instead of a game as it should be.

Those made me make this decision, which was enough for me. And I helped alot of people in MC, I've been doing that since september last year... But there's also that there is a attendancy requirement which I just can't meet. So why should I take a spot as Defender when Im only 50% there at most?
Sorry if you cant agree on it, but this is my decision. I still stay in the guild to help when I can.

hmm hardly the right post to be discussing wheter its selfish or not to not be wanting to do MC again. But i think people should respect when someone who has been doing MC for a long while decides that going back is not what they want....
I for one has decided that this is the last time that i will accept a stepback, as i've done so before and to keep doing so will not bring me forward ;)

Well tbh Gall, I don't think anyone should really be too bothered about the whole raid-lvl sit'n now. If RG2 is vvv lucky it might be finished in BWL before Burning Crusade but given recent departures and new peeps on the team I do doubt it (I'm not being rude to anyone, I'm simply stating past precedent).

The point being that when BC comes out, MC kit at the least will be outmoded by green items and I imagine that alot of BWL items will be too especially if one factors in socketed items.

RG2 needs to focus on working as a group (and quickly identifying the tourists) and getting everyone to fulfil their potential. What everyone needs to realise is that at this time there is little profit to be had in updating many items but at the same time lots of profit to be had at fine-streaming their abilities.

Personally if I was still playing I wouldn't care less if I had a few more MC Raids at this time, now I've spent over 240 f'ing hours in there (prob the most out of anyone in the raidgroup, and quite a long margin ahead of the majority (being 120-160 hrs)). From now on if anyone moans on this post about MC time and they don't have 200hrs I'm going to lovingly and happilly flame them :D, promise. Sebas I feel sorry for you mate, but really this post isn't about that.

I'd be more worried at the thought that in 2 months time (about 10 raids) Blizz are likely to release BC and raiding there-after will be completely changed (25 man raids and everyone being at different lvls for most likely about 3 months).  RG2 will not survive in it's present state into BC simply because it's basic parameters do not permit it. In fact what will happen is the first lot of lvl70 peeps will make their own raid group and things will move on from there (hope you can all power lvl, bwahahaha). It will be interesting to see how the old guilds adapt to this especially as many rely on members who only really play during evening raids and will be very slow at lvl'ing. (For example when I lvl'd Bambe in 3 weeks over the summer many members hardly moved their alts a couple of lvls).

Anyways I hope this all gives you something to think about rather than moaning about MC.

Oh if anyone is thinking about creating a power-lvl'ing group let me know as I'd be very interested.

Yours truly,

Shep

Tru dat Shep..

About that.. As I have experienced the last couple of weeks with reading the forum and no other form of computer-related fun (work is not fun, altho it involves computers), I am beginning to weaken and I am realising that I might just return within the next month as casual player lvling my mage. Altho you say power-lvling group I suppose you got school to take care of? anyways after work I will most likely start lvling my mage from lvl 60 and up and wouldn't mind a group to do that (lvl 49 pvp twink atm, but should be able to get him to lvl 60 before TBC) :g:
