Title: Broke CS
Post by: smilodon on April 06, 2003, 05:22:02 PM
Re-installed XP
Re-installed CS

played on meathook on Thursday
played on public server Saturday

now cannot join anything.....I can ping the servers and show a connection accepted in the console, but then don't proceed to the map itself ???

I was hoping to play the match tonight (or at least be availiable) but at this rate it ain't going to happen. Any bright ideads cause I'm stumped?

(no firewall issues as I turned it off and I don't use the built in XP one)

Was your config.cfg write protected 'coz the public server could have screwed it?

Have you tried deleting favsvrs.dat? If that becomes corrupted then you can see effects similar to what you describe. This file is in your half life (or counterstrike) folder and not in your cstrike folder

At last I have it working properly. Three installs to get it working  :x

I had to delete some redundant registry entries for half-life before I got a clean install. But now I'm working fine.

Sadly I'm working Wednesday night and we don't seem to have a Ghost match till a week on Wednesday but maybe I might just be avaliable for my second clan match avaliability 8O

We have an outstanding challenge for Sunday 13th as well for Ghosts against [dg] on cs_rio.  Hopefully suicidal_monkey will accept it in good time and then I'll post it on availability  :D

It has been my experience with troublesome installs/uninstalls that registry leftovers have always replicated the problem. I swear by a programme called Registry Healer http://www.zoneutils.com/index.htm (http://www.zoneutils.com/index.htm) You would be amazed and horrified, yes horrified, how much crap is left in your registry. RH takes it all out safely and easily. Buy now! Only $19.99

JV power tools in one i swear by after being introduced to by a mate, it's free and has one of those registry cleaner thingy's in it.  1st time i ran it, it found about 500 unused or reduntant registry keys from old programs.
