Title: Clan Match Arrangement
Post by: TeaLeaf on April 08, 2003, 05:55:56 PM
Ok, I need your help peeps.  I have been booking matches for both squads for a wee while now, but it is very time consuming and needs constant attention.  As a result I would very much like to reduce my clan match arranging workload  :D    So can I ask you all to start pitching in and booking matches in both ED and CB please?

Ghosts:
Need a Sunday match booked in ED.
Need a Wednesday match booked in CB.

Zombies:
Need a Monday match booked in ED (9.30 pm start until the UKCSL4U league matches stop)
Need a Thursday match booked in CB

When you book a match you MUST always review the team that you want to challenge:

What is their skill level?  Look at their past opponents, see any you recognise and can use as a yardstick?
Where are they in the ladder?  Are they going up or down due to a good run of luck or a continuing series of results?
Are they currently active in the ladder? (some really nice looking clans have been hibernating in the ladder and simply do not respond to challenges).
What is their challenge/challenged/no shows/dispute ratio like?
Read the comments - do they have any black flags or bad reps?
Once you have found a potential clan to challenge, check their notes for T&C's.
Check the nights they play on - are the the nights we want a match on?
Do they already have a match booked?
Do we have a free slot to play them - when?
Which map should we challenge on?  I have tried to keep to our better maps but also thrown in a few different ones and some friendlies to provide variety.
Then, after all that, issue the challenge.  The terms should include:
FFon, FCC2, 35C4, Demos required, no anticheat (we don't run any currently), 4 minute rounds, knives to start.  For CB matches you need to also check 'one map' only challenges (or you will end up playing 2 maps).  Team size is more variable in ED than it is in CB as the CB ladder is officially 5v5, but you can get away with larger teams sometimes.

If G-man and FB could sort out the Ghost matches; JAS, Sadako and I will sort out the Zombie matches.

The next free ED slot for Ghosts is Sunday 27th April.
The next free CB slot for Ghosts is Wednesday 30th April.
The next free ED slot for Zombies is Monday 5th May.
The next free CB slot for Zombies is Thursday 24th April.

Please post a reply here to raise any questions or to confirm your agreement with the above.  Thank you.   :D

AFK

Sorry guys. We have a big inauguration of our new microscopy center at work and I am busy 24-7 until Thursday night. Then early Friday morning I will go to a conference about Nano in Gothenburg and return on Sunday. So I will get back next Monday basically.

This is the reason for my absence in matches and on MH this week.

For more info about our center go here:

Just been on CB having a good look around for the first time

found this :- As a clanleader, you can assign one or more members as 'trustees'. A 'trustee' has almost the same rights as a clanleader. It is stronlgy advised to have at least one trustee in a clan.
Click on 'Admin' and then 'Members properties' to change the properties of each member. One of the properties that can be specified is 'trustee'.

if you can set up this Trustee access for the SL's i think that will give us what we need to book matches

You already are a Trustee......that's what the asterisk next to your name in the member list means  :D

Current Trustees include all the SLs....

From the Clanbase FAQ:

How do I enter the result of a match ?
Matches that have been played automatically show up on your Pending page. If you are clanleader, trustee or war-arranger you can enter the score or confirm the score entered by the opponent.

The reason you could not enter the score was that eVo had already done so.  So when I logged into the Pending page this morning I got the 'Scores Entered Awaiting Confirmation' line.  I processed the entered result by clicking on the green 'v' and confirming the score and giving the oppo a rating.

Bump!

Can I ask you all to give me a hand please wit booking matches?  By all means just concentrate on the your own Squad (and I have noticed the odd match being booked - thank you), but let's try to keep the diary full please.

We should be playing ED on Sundays and Mondays and CB on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Please try and book up when you can.  Thank you.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted that we have no matches booked for 21st & 22nd May and beyond in Clanbase and from 25th & 26th May and beyond in ED.

Can I ask for your help please peeps?  Can you try to book some decent peeps to play?

Cheers!

I have challenged and accepted 2 matches and also sent a challenge to dg on ED. I will try to put some effort on CB also later on today. The new matches are on the availability page.

On CB do you have to post a message in the availability column? For tomorrows match there is nothing posted, so I guess not. Just checking.

Thanks for making some challenges, however can I remind everyone that ED matches are meant to be on Sunday and Mondays, Clanbase on Wednesdays & Thursdays?

The reason behind this is so that we split the ED & CB matches equally between the squads.  Ghosts get to play an ED match on Sunday and a CB match on Wednesday.  Zombies play ED on MOnday and CB on Thursday.

At the moment the schedule has Ghosts playing all of the ED matches and Zombies all of the CB matches.

One final point, if we do not play a sufficient number of 'official' matches then we lose ranking points in the ladder as we are given an inactivity penalty - so be wary of booking too mant friendly matches as they do not count towards our official activity.

The above probably sounds like a real moaning minny post, but it is not meant to be.  I am really grateful for the help, but just wanted everyone to proceed on the right footing!

Thanks peeps!

Thanks for the info TL. I will try to book some official matches too. I was just happy being able to make a challenge I kept going :D.

Two of the matches (cbm and dg) I put down as Z&G though as those are more of honour scrims. ;)

We need to book some matches guys. We have many empty dates this month (some very soon). I have made some challenges on ED. CB kept being slow so I made now challenges.

We all need to help out.

I wouldn't worry too much Sadako. ED open challenges have always come up trumps for us in the past and now it's possible to non-friendlies booked this way.

BTW - if CB doesn't improve soon then we ought to consider dropping it. I'm fed up with the performance of the site which makes it almost impossible to investigate other clans before making challenges.

If we did drop CB,,,,,,Would we find another league or just stick with ED ?

We'd need to find another ladder (not league) or play all four matches in ED. The only other ladder I'm aware of is the Jolt Ladder.

I think that we could go down to three matches per week/every other week and focus more on practices/map tryouts/fun games etc that were for dMw members only. A WC3 night or similar would be fun. There should be some advantages of being a dMw member. ;)

We have two squads of a size that dictates that each squad needs to play twice weekly to ensure that all available squad members play at least once.

I don't see how we can change that. :?

As much as I love to try new mods, I prefer matches and I also like to practice with the squads. It's a tricky one, I'll have a think. Oh and by th eway sorray again about tonights availability, I now have a very real chance of a good network designers job with a fantastic music company, but I let the team down, it's as tricky to call as out match schedule  :?
