I must say I don't use the master browser games list but may do in the near future, I just connect directly to the dMr server. I think the few times I've seen the list, the pings did look high but played fine when in game.

Can I ask why you need to open the ports? Most routers are stateful and will let your outbound session out (using their client ports) but prevent any connection on the incoming server ports.

And here's a guide for port forwarding: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/BT/Voyager2110/BarracudaDrive.htm

well to be honest im just guessing that i need to opent them.

im having trouble with more that just live for speed right now.
such as Company Of Heroes and it says i need those
ports open to be able to connect to servers (which i cant)

im just guessing that opening these ports will fix the problem

Hi Rhym3z,

LFS with most other online games does not require open ports to be a client, only if you are hosting (being a server.) so I doubt if this is the cause of your problems.

The link here is a review of a slightly older BT router, but has some info on port forewarding which may be usefull.

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2005/q1/voyager2100.asp

Hope it helps.

Also could you try to be more exact with your fault description, there are a few people with good technical knowledge who may be able to help if we / they know what the problem is.

ie is it specific to LFS ?, are all master list server's slow, are GB server ok. (if you can tell :g: ) etc etc etc.

Which ISP are you on? my ISP has "traffic management" and I had to ask that LFS be un-managed on my account. I was getting high ms in the server list until  they tweaked it.

well the exact problem is 90% of the servers on my list are above 7-800ping
only about 2-3 servers are ok.

even the uk ones are slow as hell, or the ones with just 1 player in it.
it just seems to b a ranodm selection of them.

this is only for LFS.
connections with every other game are great.

i did notice the other day that at one time i tried it and all the servers were like 30ping!. then about and hour or so later 7-800ping again ;/

one guy told me its because of network distances and peak times and stuff.
but i know that peak times wouldnt make the servers 700ping! not even close!

also when i retrieve the server list, a hell of a lot of them wont reply ;/

my isp is force9 or "F9". never had any probs whatsoever.
about a year ago (using the same connection as i do now)
LFS was perfect evertime.
but all of a sudden this ;/

Are you sure it's not a virus or trojan or so?
My internetconnection was really bad a week ago (I've installed a new antivirus and such and hopes it's allright again now).

Force 9 are owned by Plusnet so your suffering their traffic management, you will have to raise a "question" to support about your problem and after some time and frustration they should change your traffic management profile. Check the F9 forums to see what troubles everyone is having.

I had the same problem as you about four months ago and it took several "questions" before they kind of fixed it.

I've already asked for my MAC code so I can migrate away from them, I just need to find a game friendly ISP.

I'm on plus' DSL Max service and I've got no such traffic shaping issues.

Maybe your connection is being swamped with local P2P hogs and leeches. Worth raising a ticket, and chasing via the plus internal messageboards (http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/index.php) and the PUG (http://usergroup.plus.net/forum/)
