Title: Desk
Post by: Benny on October 31, 2006, 01:46:27 PM
And now the missus has banged through the wall so I no longer have a study, just one great big kitchen, I need some type of better looking desk.

Discrete is the word. I've seen those closing desks but they look dire. I could buy a flatscreen which would help, but cheaper and nicer is the key.....

Ikea do have some fairly nice cheap desks (for what they are).

Maybe a corner desk ? They tend to look at lot better imho and can be quite compact as you've got the depth.

Cheers

I'm making my own for my A level DT project out of MDF, Chequered steel, steel Tubes and Glass.

Go get some MDF and make your own!

Exactly, you can make it yourself easily enough, just think of a decent way to connect/support the MDF.
Also making your own has a benefit, you can set it to your own height and such.

Or I could buy one. Why dance when you can have monkeys do it for you?

If you want some high pressure laminate for cladding other parts of the desk then let me know.

They like to sponsor students and have symapatico finishes which will complement the steel and tube look.

That looks finenow with no cables whatsoever, but it'll sure look untidy once you include the power leads, monitor etc

hey, you're the one wanting to lay concrete and tiles! Making a desk should be a piece of cake :flirty:

No don't use cake! It is either a layer or cream cake which is too soft and gets smelly or it is a dry cake which goes all crumbly and clogs up your fans!
Wood is good, as if steel and other more conventional materials.

I got a end-of line cheapo corner unit from PC world, or was it Staples :g: .  It's not collapsed and it has an easy wipe surface. :dribble:
