Quote from: Averinn @ US BoardsYes, we are currently working towards bringing the PTR's up. If all goes well they can open late tonight at the earliest. If we have any hiccups we'll be looking at PTR's coming online later this week. If they don't come up tonight I'll share what I know tomorrow morning.

A bit long but they give an idea of what the new patch will do:
Quote from: Blizzard 2.01 Patch Notes--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- World of Warcraft Test Patch 2.0.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The latest patch notes can always be found at
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/underdev/

General
-  All players will have talent points reimbursed and will have access
to new talents throughout their trees; this includes the 41-point
talents. Several new abilities have also been added for all classes.
-  All pets now receive a percentage of their master's armor, spell
damage, spell resistances, attack power, and stamina.
-  Low-level spells cast by high-level players will receive smaller
bonuses from +healing and +spell damage.
-  HoTs, DoTs, and channeled spells have been re balanced to receive a
more appropriate (higher) percentage of +spell damage and +healing.
-  HoTs from different sources will now stack (i.e. multiple druids can
cast the Rejuvenation spell on 1 target).
-  New item property "Resilience" has been introduced. Resilience
reduces your chance to be the victim of a critical strike, and
reduces the amount of damage critical strikes do to you.
-  Weapon Skill now does the following:
-  Weapon skill will no longer reduce the percentage damage lost due to
   glancing.
-  The player will gain 0.1% to their critical strike rating per weapon
skill against monsters above their level.
-  When casting a buff on a low level target, the appropriate rank of
the buff will be automatically be applied.
-  Crowd Control effects in PvP will last no longer than 12 seconds
instead of the full duration, with a chance of a heartbeat resist.
-  Players will no longer lose faction when under the influence of
"Mind Control" or the Gnomish Mind Control Cap.

PvP
-  Honor System Revamp
Current honor totals have been reset.
Players may display their highest lifetime rank title (accessible
   from character sheet).
Honor points earned each day may now be spent as a form of currency.
Check the PvP tab of your character sheet to see your honor
   information.
PvP rewards are no longer unique.
-  Marks of Honor earned from battlegrounds are no longer turned in for
reputation or honor.  They are now used in addition to honor points
   in order to purchase rewards.
-  Two New Arenas are now available in three different modes.
   2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 matches
Players may queue up at Goblin NPC's in Stormwind, Ironforge,
   Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Gadgetzan

Druids
-  The talent "Swiftmend" will now include bonus healing from the
talents "Improved Rejuvenation" and "Empowered Rejuvenation".

Hunters
-  Traps can be set while in combat, but require a 2 second arming time.
-  Auto shot will be automatically enabled if the Hunter steps out of
melee range while in combat with target.
-  1 agility will now grant 1 ranged attack power.
-  Auto shot is now reset when casting Aimed Shot.

Shaman
-  Shaman with the appropriate talent spec are now able to dual-wield.
Both main and off-hand weapons can be affected by self-weapon buffs
   such as Windfury.
-  Rockbiter's weapon functionality has been changed. It is now a
damage proc instead of a flat attack power bonus.
-  Windfury Weapon and Rockbiter Weapon enchantments will only benefit
the weapon with the enchantment on it.

Warlocks
- Range of "Drain Life" and "Drain Mana" spells have been increased.

Warriors
-  Rage generation from dealing damage has been normalized.
-  All Rage awards are averaged with our expected rage per swing
   (adjusted for weapon speed).

Items
-  The "Far Sight" effect has changed so that the camera now zooms in
to a distant location, rather than instantly showing the distant
view. This also affects the items: Ultra-Spectropic Vision Goggles,
the Ornate Spyglass, and the Hunter ability "Eagle Eye."
-  Spells can now require either a totem item or a totem category item
to cast a spell. This means that the Enchanting Rods now count as
all of the lower level enchanting rods as well, so you only need a
single enchanting rod instead of all six. This also means that
"Finkel's Skinner" now counts as a Skinning Knife. Several weapons
that are picks have been flagged as counting as a Mining pick as
   well.
-  Items that give bonuses, such as + to crit, have been modified to
adhere to a combat rating system.
-  All current items will provide the exact same benefit from ratings
at level 60 as they provided before the ratings system.
-  Thrown weapon items no longer stack, but use durability instead. One
unit of durability is lost per throw, and these items can be repaired.
-  The tool tip for the Great Staff of the Guardian now shows the
proper increase of 28 to the party spell critical rating.
-  Items that are useable from player inventory with a cooldown will
now update the cooldown in real-time.
-  Players will no longer be able to sell the "Blue Skeletal Horse" to
   vendors.
-  The damage Proc from the item "Misplaced Servo Arm" will no longer
   break the Rogue ability "Gouge".
-  The "Skull of Impending Doom" has been changed and will now increase
run speed by 60% for 10 seconds, but deals damage equal to 60% of
your maximum health and drains 60% of your maximum mana for over 10
   seconds.
-  The Backfire effect on the "Net-O-Matic" will no longer break on
   damage.

Professions
-  All of the profession-made items that have been created up to now
have been given proper stats based on the current expansion item
   level progression table.
-  Most of the items made by Tailoring/Leatherworking/Blacksmithing
have had their creation time reduced. Now the cap on time required
to make an item in those professions is based on quality and level.
-  New Max times required.
Level 31+ Green Items at least 8 sec
Level 31+ Blue Items at least 15 sec
Level 31+ Purple Items at least 25 sec
Skill level now determines what items you can disenchant.
   Skill 1= Level 1-20
   Skill  25= Level 20-25
   Skill  50= Level 25-30
   Skill  75= Level 30-35
   Skill 100= Level 35-40
   Skill 125= Level 40-45
   Skill 150= Level 45-50
   Skill 175= Level 50-55
   Skill 200= Level 55-60
   Skill 225= Level 60-65
-  Players will no longer lose an item when attempting to disenchant
on a boat when the loading screen appears.

User Interface
-  Meeting Stone gossip options have been removed from Innkeepers in
preparation for the new LFG system.
-  LFG/LFM UI
Tips have been added to Loading Screen tips and new player tips
Meeting Stones now function similar to a Warlock Summon spell.

   stone.
A second party member then clicks the portal to summon.
-  Enchanting UI has been vastly improved.

Yeh that is the bad part, I suggest all ppl wanting to test to go to the character copy page as soon ans you can cause the time you'll have to wait increases very fast.

Maybe they will also open the 'premade' copy...

The few times I manage to get to the final part of the character copy phase, I only get this annoying error message:
QuoteUnable to complete request

There was a problem with your request.  Please go back and try again.

To avoid possible errors in the future, please refrain from using the web browsers "back" button.
Have re-done the whole process from start several times now, but it seems to crash there every time!

Suppose Blizzard's servers are under pretty heavy load right now

Still waiting for my chars to arrive at the PTR, I made a level 1 char to walk around a bit.

The interface changes...well...I need to get used to the new location of the map button, and honor tab. For the rest, nice (especialy for casters).

Guards in city have leveld to 65 now, and there is an extra boat in Auberdine...however, we can't go to the new goodie island because you will need TBC.

Also, when making a new char, you also see the Draenei and Bloodelf logo's, you can't click em however.

I haven't been able to copy my char either. I've been trying to do so since yesterday morning.

So I decided to create a new char on the PTR and lvl it to lvl 10 (before the tiredness set in), to see what the new druid trees look like since there where some additional changes made to the trees in the beta. Well ... they're still the same, maybe they just didn't update them yet  .

Post by: Shadowsong on November 17, 2006, 06:55:13 PM
Been on the test realm testing 3 of my chars since last evening.

Warrior talent changes weren't as bad as I thought...infact they are pretty good. Only the +weaponskill en "white crits" are greatly nerfed (sucks big time). Hitting mobs from level 57 will be getting tricky even if you got +7 hit and +4 hit talents....
Tank spec also has been improved. Even with full tank spec, you are able to solo a level 60 frostmaul giant with 1H shield combi non-epic gear (enchanted thorium and stuff). Fury remains a bit the same...arms ftw!

Warlock, major major major buff. The Felguard is totaly wicked awsome! It got 3.7K hp, quite a lot of armor, 109dps (mine at least had) and super abilities. I had to give up nearly all my destro talents...but it was way worth it. When patch goes live, I think I'll take this same spec again. Shorter destro range however sucks (30yd is a bit too short). It tanks waaaay better than VW, and has more DPS then succu.

Bad part is...(for warlocks at least) you need to find mobs of at least level 52 now to get shards (instead of easy peasy 48's).

New dungeons are ingame as well, but you can't enter them (either need keys or TBC or in most cases are just plain way to high level).

Druid talents. Well, haven't fully tested em, but Tree of Life is very very boring. Looks suck, and well...it's aura is nice for other healers but otherwise....rubbish.

After 3 days of tests I'm asking myself what the f...k were Blizz devs thinking about when they created the felguard. Is like giving godomde to the alredy overpowered locks

And please don't come here and say that locks are not overpowered...

You can find the undocumented patch changes here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=46968307&sid=1&pageNo=1.

We're getting more bag space, whoohoo :yahoo: .

But I still haven't been able to copy a character :sideways: .

And you're right Akall the felguard is really overpowered. Here is a movie showing a felguard solo killing an epic warrior in a duel: http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=2271851758537033558. Tbh it looks like the warrior is just fooling around a bit, but still :narnar: . Appearantly it's pretty good at keeping aggro as well, which is something locks really needed; voidwalkers are utterly useless at tanking mobs.

Yeh, I sent an e-mail to blizzard suggesting them to implement a macro in the lock's UIs that actually calls the GM's .kill command. :lmfao:

And please don't come here and say that locks are not overpowered...

They're not, if a lock has a felguard, he ain't got much talents left for himself. I tried felguard...but the fact that I don't have range anymore, even more mana costs and other stuff makes me think twice before I'd take the felguard again.
Also, the felguard got lot's of dps and hp/armor, but still it aint a hunter pet... It was nice for WSG, maybe AB...but anything where range comes in, it sucks.

Just to make things clearer on what will happen with locks:

They will send their Felguards stunning you and critting you for 800 (this while I was in moonkin form - aka +360% armor) then dot you up (mind that dots are now much much more powerful - i.e. I died while healing me in healing gear) then IF you are still alive, you've managed to kill the Felguard and you are thinking to begin nuking the lock (all this if you still have mana to do it) they will just fear you and use Drain Life that is not the same thing that is now in game but a spell that ticks on me for 300 a tick and maybe Siphon Life healing them by up to full life.

Now don't come here telling me that locks are not overpowered because after 1 and 1/2 weeks of heavy testing on PTR I know what I'm saying. Locks in PTR can kill 2-3 ppl togather just sending the pet on one dotting up all of them and fearing them.

I will add some SS if needed. For once whinings on the official boards are sensed...

Ive been doing arenas a few hours every day and im BM spec atm, and i can usually take out 2 dps casters during those 18 secs, where both me and my pet cant be stopped unless killed :D

PATCH DATE RELEASED: 5/12/2006

Quote from: Drysc @ US Boards The next World of Warcraft content update, “Before the Storm,” will include the new PvP Honor System, as well as other new features that will prepare us for The Burning Crusade expansion. We are currently planning to release this content update next Tuesday, December 5. Please note that the patch date is still subject to change, and we will keep you informed of any changes to the plan as they happen.

If the patch goes live as planned, this will be the last week that new PvP ranks under the old Honor System can be earned, as the patch will immediately introduce the new Honor System. We will run one final honor calculation on December 5 and update everyone’s ranking accordingly on that date so that players who achieve a new rank for that week have the opportunity to display that title on their character. Please note, however, that no new PvP rewards will be unlocked for purchase with this final “old Honor System” calculation, regardless of any increase in rank.

For those who have been seeking high-rank PvP armor and weapons, note that the new Honor System will still include these item rewards, and it will actually be easier to earn these items under the new Honor System than under the old Honor System. Those who wish to see how their PvP abilities measure up against other players will still be able to do so under the new Arena System.

I know the 5th is a Tuesday but this is a US post so I'll guess we will have it the day after on our regular maintenance day. :)

I did the same thing last week, since my background downloader was borked (it killed itself after checking the first 35Megs :sideways: ). Got it in 15-20 mins, not bad.

Btw, for the people that are that don't know where to find the torrent file; it's in your %WoWDir%\cache directory. If it isn't there, you need to start the background downloader, which will create it for you.

Whoohoo, my character has finally been copied over to the test server (about time too :sideways: ).

The new feral stuff is really awesome. Both cat and bear get a considerable DPS increase from Mangle. Bear mangle is critting for 1100 - 1400 and cat mangle for 800 - 1100:dribble: . Most of the time regular mobs die in 3 hits. Additionally Imp.LotP keeps us at full health at all times, it's great for grinding. Just pull 4 to 7 mobs, go bear and spam both swipe and maul. We also seem to have a bit more rage to spend. This might be due to the rage normalization change, which seemingly works in the druid's advantage. Bear tanks will also be happy, personally I'm taking about 8-9% less damage the before, due to the -crit%/+stats and +dodge talents. Bears are becoming increasingly powerfull multitarget/melee tanks, taking about as much damage as a prot warrior, but still delivering nearly as much damage output as an arms warrior, while tanking (seriously, no I'm not joking). I have to say this is a bit 'weird', but hey I don't mind :norty: .

It has also become pretty interesting to look at having a imba feral druid along in a raid. The +5% crit and with +6% heal on crit aura is very welcome addition in a melee group (more damage, more combo points for rouges and a permanent free HoT). Permanently having -505 armor (FFF) and +30% bleed damage (Mangle debuff) on mobs can also lead to a decent overall increase in raid DPS. Besides it's nice to have some flexibility. Druids can do everything, so if you're ever low on tanks or melee DPS it's nice to have a specialist along that can properly fill the gap.

Overall I'm pretty impressed by the improvements to the druid class. It feels like we're now on par with the other classes. We're able to do everything just as well as the specialized classes we emulate, but we just do it in a slightly different way so we don't infringe upon their territory. I don't know about balance though, that tree definately has improved, but I think it still needs a bit more looking in to (AoE damage and threat management wise).

Another update from US boards:
Quote from: Drysc@US BoardsThe talents released with the 2.0.1 patch will be more recent than those seen on the current PTRs; however as the beta talents are in a constant flux there will likely continue to be some discrepancy until the release of the expansion.

With this new update all the plans and calculations are useless as we don't really know what we are going to have

Nope, those are for the TBC beta. If I'm correct we'll be getting the talents of the previous beta push. The talent trees will be updated again when the expansion arrives, although that will only be minor tweaks ofc.

(I would prefer the ones you posted though :) ).

There was a blue post on the WoW Forums about this, warning people to back up their screenshots folder. Presumably the bug was noticed too late to fix it in the binary.

It will be a bit spammy but here they are:

Quote from: 2.0.1 Patch NotesLooking for Group Interface Tool

A new Looking For Group tool designed to assist players in finding groups for instanced dungeons and quests will now be available. This interface gives players the option to be added to a pool of other players also looking for a group, as a means to expedite the process. In addition, players will also be
able to search for additional members in situations where they have a group and are simply looking to find more players.

For a complete overview of this new interface, please take a moment and read the information contained on our comprehensive Looking for Group preview.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/townhall/lookingforgroup.html

General
  • All players will have their talent points reimbursed and will have access to new talents throughout their trees; this includes the 41-point talents. Several new abilities have also been added for all classes.
  • All pets will now receive a percentage of their master's armor, spell damage, spell resistances, attack power, and stamina.
  • Low-level spells cast by high-level players will receive smaller bonuses from +healing and +spell damage.
  • HoTs, DoTs, and channeled spells have been re-balanced to receive a more appropriate (higher) percentage of +spell damage and +healing.
  •  HoTs from different sources will now stack (i.e. multiple druids can cast the Rejuvenation spell on 1 target).
  • New item property "Resilience" has been introduced. Resilience reduces your chance to be the victim of a critical strike, and reduces the amount of damage critical strikes do to you.
  • Weapon Skill now does the following:
    •  Weapon skill will no longer reduce the percentage damage lost due to glancing.
    • The player will gain 0.1% to their critical strike rating per weapon skill against monsters above their level.
    •  When casting a buff on a low level target, the appropriate rank of the buff will automatically be applied.
    • In PvP, Crowd Control effects will last no longer than 12 seconds instead of the full duration, with a chance of a heartbeat resist.
    •  Players will no longer lose faction when under the influence of "Mind Control" or the Gnomish Mind Control Cap.
    • Several improvements have been made to the Macintosh client, including support for Multi-Threaded OpenGL on Intel Macs running OS X 10.4.8 or higher.
    PvP
    •  Honor System Revamp
      •  Current honor totals have been reset.
      • Players may display their highest lifetime rank title (accessible from character sheet).
      • Honor points earned each day may now be spent as a form of currency.
      •  Check the PvP tab of your character sheet to see your honor information.
      • PvP rewards are no longer unique.
      • Marks of Honor earned from battlegrounds are no longer turned in for reputation or honor. They are now used in addition to honor points in order to purchase rewards.
      •  Two New Arenas are now available in three different modes.
        • 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 matches
        • Players may queue up at Goblin NPC's in Stormwind, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Gadgetzan
Druids
        • The talent "Swiftmend" will now include bonus healing from the talents "Improved Rejuvenation" and "Empowered Rejuvenation".
        • "Omen of Clarity's" duration has been increased to 30 min.
        Hunters
        • Traps can be set while in combat, but require a 2 second arming time.
        • "Auto shot" will be automatically enabled if the Hunter steps out of melee range while in combat with target.
        •  1 Agility will now grant 1 Ranged Attack Power.
        •  "Auto shot" is now reset when casting Aimed Shot.
        • "The Beast Within's" Bonus damage caused has been reduced to 10%, but now also reduces the mana cost of all spells by 20%.
        • Freezing Traps will now cancel combat when cast.
        Mages
        • "Frost Nova" (Water Elemental Spell) has now been renamed "Freeze".
        Shaman
        •  Shaman with the appropriate talent spec are now able to dual-wield.
        • Self-weapon buffs such as Windfury Weapon can be applied to both main and off-hand weapons.
        •  Rockbiter's weapon functionality has been changed. It is now a damage proc instead of a flat attack power bonus.
        • Windfury Weapon and Rockbiter Weapon enchantments will only benefit the weapon with the enchantment on it.
        Warlocks
        •  The range of "Drain Life" and "Drain Mana" spells have been increased.
        Warriors
        •  Rage generation from dealing damage has been normalized.
        • All Rage awards are averaged with our expected rage per swing (adjusted for weapon speed).
        Items
        • The "Far Sight" effect has changed so that the camera now zooms in to a distant location, rather than instantly showing the distant view. This also
affects the items: Ultra-Spectropic Vision Goggles, the Ornate Spyglass, and the Hunter ability "Eagle Eye."
        • Spells can now require either a totem item or a totem category item to cast a spell. This means that the Enchanting Rods now count as all of the lower level enchanting rods as well, so you only need a single enchanting rod instead of all six. This also means that "Finkle's Skinner" now counts as a Skinning Knife. Several weapons that are picks have been flagged as counting as a Mining pick as
        well.
        •  Items that give bonuses, such as critical strike percentage, have been modified to adhere to a combat rating system.
        • All current items will provide the exact same benefit from ratings at level 60 as they provided before the ratings system.
        • Thrown weapon items no longer stack, but use durability instead. One unit of durability is lost per throw, and these items can be repaired.
        • The tool tip for the Great Staff of the Guardian now shows the proper increase of 28 to the party spell critical rating.
        •  Items that are useable from player inventory with a cooldown will now update the cooldown in real-time.
        • Players will no longer be able to sell the "Blue Skeletal Horse" to vendors.
        • The damage Proc from the item "Misplaced Servo Arm" will no longer break the Rogue ability "Gouge".
        • The "Skull of Impending Doom" has been changed and will now increase run speed by 60% for 10 seconds, but deals damage equal to 60% of your maximum health and drains 60% of your maximum mana for over 10 seconds.
        • The Backfire effect on the "Net-O-Matic" will no longer break on damage.
        Professions
        • All of the profession-made items that have been created up to now have been given proper stats based on the current expansion item level progression table.
        • Most of the items made by Tailoring/Leatherworking/Blacksmithing have had their creation time reduced. Now the cap on time required to make an item in those professions is based on quality and level.
          •  New Max times required.
          •  Level 31+ Green Items at least 8 sec
          •  Level 31+ Blue Items at least 15 sec
          •  Level 31+ Purple Items at least 25 sec
          • Skill level now determines what items you can disenchant.
            • Skill 1= Level 1-20
            • Skill 25= Level 20-25
            • Skill 50= Level 25-30

            • Skill 225= Level 60-65
            • Players will no longer lose an item when attempting to disenchant on a boat when the loading screen appears.

It's been replaced with a new feature that restricts all raids to one worlock only

QuoteWarlock: Warlocks will now be able to cast upto 40 debuff spells on one target, inlcuding multimple casts of the same spell. However to balance this feature only one Warlock will be permitted to join each raid group. This is to encourge fewer players to select the 'Easy Mode' option when rolling a character and to try a more challenging class.

its simple for me i know how I wanna spec my warrior as the only thing I really do on my main is raid, so prot specced.

Priest is shadow, simple. use talents to get down to shadow form and then look at what else I want. (lvl 45)

Mage is frost. get target frozen in place as much as i can. (lvl 35)

hunter (pew pew pew arrarz) lvl 21

main problem for me is going to be getting my UI sorted in time for the raid with the nessacery mods

If you are experiencing LAG and loss of FPS after 2.0.1 try this:

Create a WDB folder inside your Cache folder, and then enGB folder \World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB.
Your enGB folder will get populated with:

                  more explained thingy:.

                  Dear Blizzard and Readers,

This post points out that after patch 2.0, without corrective action on the user's part, the client doesn't cache WDB files anymore. It explains how to solve the problem and why it's important to solve it.

                  Symptom

When logging in, every time, a lot of the items placed on the action bars are red question marks for a few seconds. Also, when opening a crafting profession's window for the first time, delay is observed in loading the icon for items and list of ingredients. Other symptoms that indicate that the client is not performing caching and has to query the server for data with each login session.

                  Explanation and Solution

The old WDB folder is now gone with patch 2.0. The client is supposed to cache data in the "World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\" folder, where depends on your client language. It's enGB for EU English players. However, during a standard installation and patching scenario, only "World of Warcraft\Cache" folder gets created, and the client doesn't automatically create its subfolders. This means that the client never saves cache files.

To force WoW to start saving cache files, manually create a WDB subfolder in Cache, i.e. make sure that a folder named "World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB" exists. The client will take care of the rest, create the locale specific subfolder and start saving files.

                  Why this is important

For starters, this improves the game experience of the end-user. However, more importantly, with so many players, all the clients querying the server for information that was supposed to be cached could lead to additional load on the servers. Only Blizzard knows the significance or fraction of this additional load, but it's important that we as users do everything we can to reduce load on the servers.

Edit: It appears that this may be an issue only on the Windows client and not Mac

You can copy chars. It's up atm, so do it while you still can :narnar: .

I'm not sure about this, but I think the characters that where copied over last push are still there too.

Edit: I just checked, the chars that where copied over last push are still there.

The patch that's currently being tested at the PTR is pretty buggy.

                  Just to name a few:
-The chat and combat log boxes are messed up.
-My chat box is getting spammed with 'you're already in that channel' messages while I'm in a city.
-My sound dies if I select 'hardware acceleration'.

Meh :thumbsdownsmileyani . Something tells me they didn't even test it themselfs before they put it on the PTR.

The druid talents have been fix though (finally). Additionally they changed the following things:
-450% AC and +25% HP in bear.
-Mangle got buffed to +30% bleed and shred damage for 12 sec.
-You can now pounce from any side, so you no longer need to be behind your target.
-We got the new dodge formulae, so we dodge almost twice as much :D .
-The idols got nerfed up to a point where it's totally pointless to have them.
-We can talk to people in our forms now.

So now we're on par with the beta stuff.

I tried both feral and balance (Imagine me as a chicken :narnar: ).

Oomkin is still lacking imo. Although I only have 213 +damage (+100 more with trinkets) it takes ages to kill something. Starfire + moonfire, root -> run -> starfire -> root -> run -> repeat. Even if the target remains stationary I'm not doing more then 250-300 DPS.

Feral now owns even more. In cat you can easily do 350-400 DPS (unbuffed, on 58+ elite BS melee dragons) while facing the target and even more if you're behind it :norty: .

Bear DPS is noticably lower because of the idol nerf, but you take incredibly little damage now (360% AC -> 450% AC, +4% dodge talent and the new dodge fomulae). For me (unbuffed) that means +/- 13500 AC, 30% dodge, 31 +def and -3% crit. With raid buffs that basicly means (with my current gear) I only take about 15% of all incoming melee damage! Which is less then a warrior! Combine this with the druid's superior health and aggro generation ... . I have to say that this seems a bit awkward. Hopefully they buff prot warriors, this is just silly. Yes, I want druids to be good, but we aren't meant to be nr.1 at anything  .

I know, and we can both hit it. Druids get there sooner then warriors though, which causes druids to stop improving earlier. So a Naxx warrior is still > then any druid, but below that I'm not so sure. Most bosses do magic damage though, so there is no competition on that end. Warriors will still be the prefered tanks for most fights, but for certain melee bosses (like broodlord) it may be 'better' to use a well geared feral druid once the new patch arrives.

afaik there is no cap on armor, after a certain point you just need to much armor more to gain any benifit from it.

yep.. and thats a sortof "cap" by itself ;)

and then in the 2/3 expansion when welle have too much armor, theylle decrease armor by a certain %

                  (remeber the def nerf)

There is a cap, you can never reduce more then 75% of incoming melee damage with armor.

Against a level 63 mob you'll need 17265 AC to get that.

                  If you feel like experimenting:
-Find a lvl 20 mob, equip 6300-7000 armor and record the damage you took over a set amount of time.
-Do the same thing with 12000+ armor and compare the results.
You'll see that you took exactly the same amount of damage.

Btw, here is a nice calculator for calculating damage reduction: http://www.worldofwar.net/guides/damagereduction.php.

But it isn't true that you need more armor to gain benefit from it after a certain point either. Yes you get 'less' per point of armor, but the added time you'll live in a fight scales linearly. Consider the following:

Damage reduction gain per additional +2750 armor:
                  0 - 0.00 %
                  2750 = 33.33% | +33.33% (+2750 Armor)
                  5500 = 50.00% | +16.67% (+2750 Armor)
                  8250 = 60.00% | +10.00% (+2750 Armor)
                  11000 = 66.67% | +6.67% (+2750 Armor)
                  13750 = 71.43% | +4.76% (+2750 Armor)
                  16500 = 75.00% | +3.57% (+2750 Armor)

Time till death with 100 incoming DPS (if you have only 1000 HP):
                  0 = 0.00 % | 100.00 DPS | 10 sec
                  2750 = 33.33% | 66.67 DPS | 15 sec (+5 sec of life)
                  5500 = 50.00% | 50.00 DPS | 20 sec (+5 sec of life)
                  8250 = 60.00% | 40.00 DPS | 25 sec (+5 sec of life)
                  11000 = 66.67% | 33.33 DPS | 30 sec (+5 sec of life)
                  13750 = 71.43% | 28.57 DPS | 35 sec (+5 sec of life)
                  16500 = 75.00% | 25.00 DPS | 40 sec (+5 sec of life)

As you can see, you'll live exactly 5 seconds longer every time we add 2750 armor. While you receive less reduction per point it kind of remains 'as usefull', no matter how much you have (up to the 75% cap).
