As i joined a yesterday's raid from RG1 i noticed something strange, When ur not guardian anymore or defender in my case (stepped down to soldier yesterday) it seems its for the best ur not whispering for the loot cause ur not raiding anymore! I think its called common sense mentioned in earlyer posts. I think i did some common sense in AQ40 cause i was top in dkp, passed some really nice items to my fellow hunters np at all, Yesterday i did whisper for a item and then i hear "is it fair if you whisper?" As for this i'm a little sad, but made me think deeply what to do with my hunter as i can't attend for all 3 days as a guardian anymore and i can't raid with RG2 cause of the speed i'm used too in RG1.
Whats there to do exept tag along with the RG's when there short of people. Don't get me wrong here but i think everyone who plays this game is in for the fun but also for the loot in my opinion, and if i have to pass all the loot cause of the common sense well why play on my hunter anyway?
This is the main reason ill quit with my hunter.
I will stay with my other characters and try to lvl them to lvl 60.
Soul X
WHAT - no, no, no not yet a great player leaving..... why does this guild have this kind of swing door effect?
Really sad to see you leaving SoulX:byesad:
To bad to see you leave Soul, as I can understand the speeding part in your post....
I know you left your hunter, but I know you will be back with an other class....... and TBC will probably let you back into raiding again ..... You need to level your hunter as well.
Sad to see you leave mate...good geared, good MA and also nr 1 dps yesterday (rg2 that is).
Stick around
Daedalus.
sry to see.
But hope to still see you around now and then.
I dont quiet get the, part where you have to leave with SoulX...
Sorry to see you retire your main character Soulbringer and I look forward to hearing which is your new main.
However regarding the loot (and I'm sorry if you think this harsh), I have to agree with the logic of prioritising raid group members for the loot. It is the same with other raid groups. The people that are in the fight week in week out are the ones who need to get geared up to help the raid progress to the next level and unfortunately with you having already stepped down to Soldier that puts a priority on a current Raid Group member not you. Nobody can deny that you have put your time into AQ40 and for that I am truly grateful, but I hope you also see the sense in prioriting raid group members in a raid group event.
If loot really is all you raid for then I can understand your problem (although I would not agree with it), but I believe you raid for more than that and very much hope to see you back in one of our Raid Groups with either your hunter or a new character very soon. Like Luthor I do not understand why it prompts the retirement of your hunter and so hope to hear that you have rethought very soon.
TL
PS I've edited the topic title to better reflect the fact that Soulbringerx is retiring, not leaving SOG as from your comments you will remain a SOG member and Soulbringerx will become an alt. If I got it wrong then shout and I will change it back!

Offcourse i'm not raiding only for the loot, i'm raiding for the fun of it too but i was just ****ed about the way some people reacted when i whispered for the loot and maybe its a bit fast from my side to gquit with soulbringerx
Maybe just switch main is the best solution and see what happens when TBC has launched.
Like Luthor said no reason to leave guild for this, and maybe ill have to let my bad temper cool down first before making the decicion of leaving with SBX.
Maybe its my RL problems that causes my short fuse lately i don't know, just switch my main to Soulangel and ill lvl some and try to cool of a bit
PS. All you guy's did a great job yesterday downing Twins
SBX.
Am glad to see you are still with us Soul. Would have been sad to see you leaving SoG.
Hope you'll be happy with your alternate characters Soul :byesad:
I wont comment anything of this!! Just that Iam loosing a bit of fun everytime a good friend toss in the towel!!!
SoulA or SoulB never mind u know iam there if u need me!
Best regards Rata
a) it's not all about equipping the raid but also about rewarding people who have ALREADY put in alot of hours etc. thus:
b) if he had top dkp this proves he's earned something regardless, otherwise it's like not paying someone for work done in the previous month because they'll be leaving next month. Sorry this is wrong. He's ALREADY put in the time and effort to help with progress.
c) can people STOP whispering complaining to people about kit, if you want an item, earn it, if you whisper someone it should be to say grats and NOTHING ELSE.
if the only reason to raid is for loot 'purely' for raid gain and never ever to congratulate someone on earning something by being there all the time then it won't come as a surprise if more people leave. (before anyone complains, yes, you can have a mix of both, or indeed they can be the same thing). We need to remember, dkp is not a payment in advance, we shouldn't not let a soldier have something because they wont be in the raids to help as often, he's ALREADY done the raids and earned the points otherwise why not further complicate the loot system by using attendance ratio as a coefficient?
Think of it this way, WW2 veterans, they've spent their lives and some parts of their bodies and sometimes their minds, for something that has passed, should we forget them and give them nothing because it is unlikely they will help in future?
It's not all about raid stats guys, make some people happy to spend time doing it too.
Another support for going back to pure dkp, if you've earned it, you get it
Sorry to hear you are stepping down.
imo umbra is right..
cya around soul
Considering his DKP and the fact he has not had a single item from AQ I think he was quite right to ask for an item, he has put in the hard work in the past and should be allowed to be rewarded for that fact. So therefore I agree with Umbra.
Change the situation to examine the logic.
It's a legendary drop - let's say a complete Thunderfury.
The person is retiring the character.
You know this in advance.
Now what you going to do? Bit tougher call that one. But it's the same thought process, the same logic. Much as I agree with the sentiment, clearly it's not as simple as is suggested above. DKP is not a bank account from which you can buy at any time. It comes with priorities which we have always applied. Otherwise RG2 would suffer when an RG1 alt was present as they share the DKP of the main - stuff like that would really cheer up the RG2 members. Cheering up a Soldier at the expense of an RG1 main was the situation outlined above. Now you can debate that the rules are incorrect, but that's what they are at the moment. Not following the rules would be what was unfair.
TL.
I want Thunderfury anyways
Legendary drops have ALWAYS been exceptions, so that example doesn't compare.
It's not purely cheering him up, the dkp isn't just a number that says someone has priority or whatever it means they've ALREADY spent their time to save up for an item, if they're gonna use it in raids great, if not, well it's up to them, they've handed over time, and should be able to receive an item they want.
I'm not very good at illustrating what I mean I think, people don't get given money IRL because they're GOING to work, and hopefully use that money in a way that may help their company, they get paid because of work they've ALREADY done. He's already earned the items, and imo has passed because he was being nice, and is now being penalised for it. All this kind of thing will do is force people to take what they can get as soon as they can get it because you might be denied it later.
Furthermore, you can't just reduce it to 'cheering up a soldier' the very fact he has the highest dkp shows that, while he may be a soldier now, he's already saved/worked/passed a hell of a lot or is that meaningless the instant they can't meet the raid requirements now? if so, why not just zero a person's dkp as soon as they get demoted? The same as if they leave the guild.
Unfortunately is does compare and the difference in reaction shows the problem. Change the item then, let's say Ass candy. Same thing, same logic. Hmmm, same problem? And this was not an exception to the rule Umbra, it was the rule.
TL.
Notes Umbra's post edited after my post, hence some comments out of order.

Now there's an idea....... :boxing:
I hear what you are saying Umbra, I agree with the sentiment of it, but in terms of raid progress I do not agree. You immediately said legendary is different, but why? I used an extreme example because it forces you to look at something in a different light. Would you be happy to see an ass candy go AWOL? If the person is retiring their character what on earth benefit will they see in upgrading their equipment from Tier 2 to Tier 2.5 when all they are raiding is UBRS/Strat/Scholo? On the other hand a tank in AQ40 up against the Twins or C'Thun might very well benefit from it and the raid will most certainly benefit from it. And that's the point. I am not denying the effort or value any one person puts into the raid, but there comes a point where you draw the line otherwise ex-members would still be spending their DKP in our raids.
TL.
Well i think both (TL and Umbra) have a point here and i can understand why i didn't got it. But standing there when it happend after all this effort i put in was a little hard thats all.
I cooled off a bit so no worry's if TBC comes in januari all of our hard earned gear will be useless anyway it only makes the proces of grinding xp a little easyer when lvling from 60 to 70.
Sometimes i make a fuss when its not even worth it stupid me
and even myself has to learn to shut it sometimes and count to 1000.000 before taking any actions. :g:
I think it's easier to compare the loot with a company sending an employee on some sort of training for whatnot, thrown in with a “bonus night out on the town”. Would the company chose to send a new employee on this training, or the old one that has served the company for 20 years, but just quit the job two weeks ago? It’s quite clear who would need the training the most, even though the other one has “earned” it.
I have no problem seeing that Soul feels a bit betrayed, tho.
I have to agree... the two sides has very good points. Historically Soul should've had it, but looking forward its probably better for the raid that the persons that will be in the raid (active guardians) is the person getting the items
Anyhow, its sad to see SoulbringerX go, and i hope he will be back when he realises that he misses us too much :)
He will be back he just half a man/dwarf without me! and he will get bored with his Longeared alt soonish:norty:

He'll be back, he won't be able to resist his urge to spam the hunter channel :D
