I've been thinking of getting a game console and i like the ps3 but since it will cost me big time the wii seems better. But after seeing this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6jxqOZIATw) i'm most certainly sure it won't be the ps3 ^^
wii is low def though
Fine if you've still got an old CRT but if you have a spangly new LCD then it's a shame really.
ill be getting a wii and a ps3 when they hit the bargain bin :)
I've been dilemma'ng this one too. I think I am going to get a Wii. Looks like a laugh, a bit more social than the usual.
If the PS3 turns up and does more than my PC I'll get that too, but I am swining to the Wii at the moment.
What concerns me is how sensitive and accurate the motion sensing is. I've watched all the youtube stuff and it looks ok, but then the drumming examples look attrocious.

AIUI Wii is still better than standard CRTs, just at 480p (enhanced def) instead of full Hi-def.
Besides, from the sound of things if you've got an older TFT you're still buggered to get hi-def on a PS3. From Gamespy.com:
"According to a report on IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/746/746282p1.html), the problem lies in what the PS3 decides to do when it's playing a game that outputs in 720p on an HDTV that only does 1080i. Apparently, the PS3 doesn't scale the 720p image to 1080i, thus outputting an HD signal that the TV can display. Instead, it downscales the signal to 480p, which is not HD. This issue comes both with the HDMI cable and component cables. Some HDTVs that only display 1080i have a built-in scaler to take a 720p signal and scale it up to 1080i, so if you own a set that does this, you'll be fine. It's all about what type of signal your TV will actually accept. So far it's not known if this is a software issue or something inherent in the PS3 hardware. We've sent a request to Sony for a comment, but so far haven't received a reply. We'll update you with more info as it comes in."
Games outputting in 720p include Resistance: Fall of Man, and Need For Speed Carbon.
IMO it goes thusly:
What does the Wii (potentially) give me? - Cheaper games, cheaper console, lower end graphics, great group fun with the innovative control mechanism. I'm really looking forward to playing swordfighting and gunplay games on this one.
And the XBox360? - Great graphics, more expensive games, mid-price console. Bog standard controls.
PS3? - Great graphics, great expense for console, same price as 360 for games. Supposed motion sensing controller, but i've yet to see it being used as anything more than a gimmick.
I'm unlikely to be able to get a PS3 near release, as I can't be arsed to stand in line and wait for days on end. For the price of one I could get a Wii *and* a 360, and from the videos i've seen online even if the Wii is Standard Def it still looks damn shiny. I also think that Blu-ray will crash and burn, and HD-DVD will win out. As such I plan to get a Wii pretty soon after release (mebbe buy one for the girlfriend for Christmas, as she is actually more interested in it than me, me being a primarily PC gamer and all), and get a 360 and a hi-def TV to use it on when they release the HD-DVD pack for it (or a 2nd Gen console with it built in).
360's are pretty nice, just for the record, looks like some really sweet games on the way for them. I would guess the ps3's gonna take a year for the games dev's to get the hang of what they can do like its taken with the 360, from the shots of games on both they don't look much differant at the mo. The Wii looks like a good laugh too, I like the fact Nintendo have the balls to try something differant to the rest.
ime getting none.. long live pcs...

I'm with Gorion :P. Pc gaming ftw :P
My PC gaming will never get replaced, but I cant play on my PC in the living when i have friends over, or play a game of Wii tennis etc with the wife (which looks a riot).
I am hoping the Wii will appeal to the misses.
pc replace? NEVAH but i would like a addition :D
Take a look at this (http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/11/17/ps3_ebay_sales/)
Is it just me or have someone just made a very stupid and foolish decision and another one made one hell of a profit of it?

I was thinking of getting a PS3 but decided not to. I'm hardly using my PS2 anymore as PC-gaming is the only thing I do lately.

surely all you do is hook up your pc to the tv, plug in some suitable controllers (which will doubtless come out for pc at some point) and run suitable games on the pc :) Media-centre ftw :) Given that most of the amusing controller games (guitar heroes, eyetoy) in the last year or so came out on the Ps2 I'm pretty certain you will see something interesting for the PS3 too, but personally I won't get either until they are established. Then if my media pc isn't cutting it I will probably opt for a PS3 :)

hmm, console the the size of 3 dvd boxes or a PC the size about 50 dvd boxes (and noisey to boot). :) plus no funky wiimotes :D
IMO its more about the games, nintendo just make better multiplayer games that anyone can play
Pre-Ordered with amazon this morning.
I think they started taking preorders at 9:30 and 10 minutes later they had stopped :S
fingers crossed :)
