Hello guys i wanna buy a Hard Disk Recorder.
And i'm thinking of a LG rh 7850 for 299.-euro's is not to bad..
250gb harddisk for dvd+-r/rw en dl.
time shift
hdmi,dv in
plays cd cd-r/rw dvd/rw mp3 and ivx!!
What do you think

mmm, can't find any info about a model 7850 on the LG site, sounds like your standard HDD recorder though. any dvd player worth it's salt should play all those formats ;) my £40 special from a year or two ago manages divx :D
I guess it depends what the interface is like and how much you can do with it? ...I have to say that these days I'd be far more tempted to opt for a "media-center" PC personally. You could either build one especially or wait until your current computer needs replacing and recycle the old parts. For standard definition you could almost build one yourself with that budget I would have thought.

The LG ones suck. I bought one and took it back as the picture was dreadful.
THe general consensus at AV forums that if you're going to buy a HDD recorder make sure it's either a Toshiba, Panasonic or Sony - stay away from the rest of them.
I've had a Toshiba RD XS-32 and it was superb. I had an LG one which I took back and I've now got a Sony which is also v good.
IMHO steer clear of LG.

I'll be using my Shuttle as a MediaCenter aswell and I'm thinking of building a new computer for my mother from the parts of my previous computer.
(Graphics card will go to da_Ricci, powersupply to King).
My mothers current computer is a tad slow but I reckon da_Ricci could use those parts atleast or he should be nice to me and I'll have to make a mediacenter for him out of my previous computerparts and the graphics card and powersupply I get in return...
