Title: an issue regarding applications
Post by: lunares on December 08, 2006, 09:47:23 PM
In the not so far away past we had and we still have some trouble with sorting the applications between the 2 raidgroups. Not when they apply for 1 raidgroup but when they apply as a guardian and defender. We do not have a way of handling these applications at the moment. I think we need to do something to sort this.
The best option from my point of view would be an extra question when they apply. This question would be If you apply for both Guardian and Defender which of the 2 raidgroups would you prefer to be in? this way they applicant can sort his own interests and makes the work more easy for us. Also this option will prevent the 2 raidgroups to have a communication error and as a result we have a heated discussion.

I would like the Field marshals and the Marshalls to read this (which you hopefully are doing now) and your feedback. It would be great if we can take the decision at the next meeting.

Regards,

Lunares

would be nice as we could have done with lights. But as it will always be do you want to join RG1 or RG2? (its like asking do you want a ferrari or a mini) but im used to it now.

I'm not sure what the alternative would be though DA or that there is ever any way of making the two raid groups the same.  At the end of the day there is a difference between RG1 & RG2.

Lights was offered both RGs but I felt kind of daft to writing to someone in game and say well done you can join SOG, but let us know which of the two raid groups you want because we can't decide for ourselves which one you should go to.  We ought to be able to decide something in advance, the problem being that whilst RG1 declines the vast majority of applicants, where someone comes along that fits (character/gear etc) then RG1 will want them.  By definition RG2 will want someone geared well enough that RG1 wants them - and that's the crux of the problem, any Guardian & Defender applicant that RG1 want will automatically be wanted by RG2.  I think that was what Luna was saying, if they apply for RG1 & RG2 then are they expressing a preference for which raid group they join if they are accepted by both.  It might just save us some time when we look at applications.

Same as Bastet, seems to me that that the best solution is a more direct question to where they want to go if they get accepted for trial.

Or simply force them to apply for either RG1 or RG2 not both... IF they apply for RG1 but gets declined and RG2 needs the class we can contact them and ask if they are interested in a RG2 spot.

So basicly u gone hand ppl that apply for both Guardian/Defender spot a choice,on the application forum, if a good geared player apply apply for both raid groups we give him a choice to choose with RG he wants to be in then ofc 90% of the ppl apply for both guardian and defender will pick guardian as a naturall choice.

This is another side to it aswell RG1 are gone get alot more "less decent geared ppl" for their application aswell and thats something u might want to consider too

Well we either need to make them apply to one raidgroup only, or ask the question. We can't have raid leaders here internally 'fight' over applicants. Atm one possible solution has been presented. If you feel there is a better solution please say so now, or forever hold your... ehrm... keys? So come on, if you have something to say, spit it out.

Id say make them choose which raidgroup, and if one of the groups see fit into thiers after the other declined it - they can contact him afterwards...

Agree Siff, make them chose.

and on the off topic section, why not consider changing RG1 and RG2 names.... because RG2 will standout as the bad one, and it makes the 2 raidgroups seem unequal.

So why not;

Raid Group Red
Raid Group Blue
ect ect.

or

Raid Group Alpha
Raid Group Beta
Raid Group Omega

Just an idea, we talked a bit about yesterday on TS, DA, Wierd and I.

I don't think a name change will make any difference at all when the forum says the Polkadot raid group is at C'Thun and Turquoise raid group is at Firemaw.

We might want to face the fact that TBC will bring another raid structure, and new names might be good, since after TBC RG1 might not be the "best" raid group we have.

I still think that RG1 sounds better and more actractive than RG2. But when you name them RG Alpha and RG Omega, there's not the automatic thought in peoples head that says "hmmm I can progress better and get gear faster in RG1, ill take no.1, I dont bother to read about the difference of the groups"

But hey was also just a thought. - I shall leave this thread back to the original topic, but will post more about this in TBC forum section. :)
