I confess to recently becoming more than a little annoyed with a number of prospective SOG applicants who have been "having trouble posting an application on the forum". During the ensuing 30 minute series of whispers (usually during an RG1 boss fight) when I check the system it is always working 100% and when I register a test account myself it always works - I have yet to find an error or fault in the registration process, however I always find that the prospective applicant has failed to follow the very basic and simple registration process. So, if 'your friend' is having this trouble then please help him or her by explaining this:
- Background info: the registration process works just fine, it's been checked.
- If the registration process does not work then click the large friendly button that says 'do it again' or just start over.
- Your friend cannot make an application post until they have an activated forum account. When the forum account is activated it will show them as being a member of the community's Alpha Company and list them as the newest member and list them in the membership list. If they are not showing they do not have an actived forum account.
- They need to create a forum account using a valid email address.
- Then they need to go and read the email sent by the forum software and click on the URL link provided to activate the forum account.
- "but my mate has done this and still cannot post" - in almost all cases this is because either (1) they have NOT yet registered a forum account despite telling you that they have or (2) they have not gone to check their email and therefore whilst they have registered the account they have not activated it by clicking the URL link given in the email.
- If 'the friend' has done this then they will be able to post an application to SOG without problems and therefore will not be whispering you!
- If the friend insists that they did not get an email then invite them back to the forum and ask them to try to log in. At this stage they find a nice friendly button that asks if they wish their validation email to be re-sent.
- If they used a fake email address then please tell them they are a muppet and should register again with a valid email address.
- If the forum does not recognise them then they never registered an account in the first place - please tell them they are a muppet and should register first.
- If they are still having trouble posting an application to SOG then please consider this question: "Does SOG need a new member who cannot follow a standard and simple forum registration process that is written in plain english and with simple 'click here' instructions?".
- If 'your friend' cannot manage to successfully post on the forums, then it is highly unlikely they will have the communication skills or acumen to become a friend of other SOG members, a valued member of a raid group or even qualify as a 'real person'. Please therefore instruct said 'friend' that whilst their intimate knowledge and understanding of 'The Four Horsemen, Sapphiron & Kel'Thuzad' fights would no doubt make a uniquely valuable addition to our beloved Guild, that the bi-pedal apes we have previously accepted into the Guild have always been the human kind, not the tree-swinging, banana-eating kind.
Auntie TL's agony column apologises that correspondence cannot be answered personally, but hopes that the above guidance will be helpful to some lost soul.

Pah any halfway decent Guild Leader would give up raiding completely and spend their waking life sat in Ironforge responding to "plz me jn ur gld n gt epx" messages, explaining the guild rules and generally dealing with all the crap and rubbish that comes their way.
Your lack if commitment to the cause is disturbing TL :eyebrow:

Being a Guild Master is one thing (which is a one-person role), whilst being a guild leader is a bit different - I'd concider
all the officers leaders of the guild :norty:

I'm really surprised this happens. I'm pretty much a computer novice besides playing games yet I managed to do straight forward. Guess I'm smarter than I think :D

That only proves that you have an IQ that is larger than your shoe size (which is a good start ofc), cause filling out that app form isn't hard (not even
close to hard) at all... So I wouldn't brag too much about that :norty:
