Yepp, got it some time ago as a Norwegian SMS (works in several languages too ) - but it is indeed really cool!

I wish my brain could do tricks like that on tomorrow's exam as well

It is indeed impressive - but prolly also the problem I miss some typo's when reading through something I've written.. Like an essay or so.. tsk..

not quite: the first and last letter do not need to be in the right place, and there can be some letters missing (otherwise how would we understand Noevra), and it's down to the simple principle of generalisation from pattern matching, the foremost problem facing artificial intelligences / neural nets being given human tasks.

for example 'cmputre', most people would recognise as 'computer' typo, with the o missing, and r is not at the end.

basically, well done, you're human (only just, Gorion) :)

I'm not quite shure you're 100% correct about that Umbra.  Either that, or you've misunderstood the point a bit.

The point about Vargen's text, is that when something is written in that way, you can actually read it witout even noticing that there is something wrong.  The first time I got that one in an SMS, I didn't realize that there was something wrong before almost at the end of the text- my head just parsed it automatically.

Whilst the example you gave with 'cmputre' is also something that we definetly understand, we still notice that there is something wrong with it, and I doubt that a whole text written that way is as easily understood as that in the first post.

At least I think that's the way it works :)

I was just practicing. And you're right, the first and last letters do need to be correct with the rest of the letters there but not in order. If you just randomly  mash the keyboard it makes no bloody sense at all.

Well, because your brain tend to generalize you dont need to know there is something wrong with the words to get the text, thats the point of generalisation. It is sweet to not stand by a lightpost for 4 hours waiting for the dark EVERY SINGLE time you see one, just to see if it really is going to light up the street or not, thus reassuring you that it was indeed a lightpost. -Normally you dont need to stare at it, you dont know it is there before you walk into it bumping your head screaming "Fracking lightpost!"

If not for this type of generalisation and pattern recognisation most humans would eventually go crazy. It is like noise, your brain screens it out, until some stupid "friend" tells you this "your tap is dripping" (that *******). so your brain and how it works is your good friend but also yourself, and it goes into troubles just so we can all think about booze and boobies.

Just to think of the amount of information the brain must prosess if one was to examine a word, break it down into letters make hypotesises about all of the interpretations and then accept or redefine the hypothesis about the meaning of the word then go on to the next word.
I think a important subject is Context.

I just have to say that my mind doesnt work this way, thus I spend spare brain "cycles" to figure out stuff about how to flame and insult ppl with ieg a ripe coconut. (cycles that some ppl just let idle without using them on creative guildchat)

But! I have to say that this type of generalising made by the brain makes "grown ups" miss alot of joy. While kids might go "AHA!" and "woooooow!" whenever they see a roadkill, we adults say "dont touch it".
Well, this "woooohoooieh" feeling can get back to you by learning new stuff and once again becoming fascinated by something enough as to encourage your brain to update your knowledge database once again.

In other words, dont miss school because you want to Ding!

and also! Curiosity and creativity is more important than boobies. But combine them and you can learn how it is to not being a virgin even if you are. This is another topic called : Supressing ones feelings into the subconsiousness.

Finally, Isnt it wierd how I wrote this without reading all the posts in this thread?:g:

Oh! could this be related to angxiety level also? if you are relaxed or if you are on alert? or if you are a sceptic in nature?

I mean, I couldnt read it at first, I took one word, then the other and thought, AHA, it is one of them tests etc, and I just stopped r-e-a-d-i-n-g and browsed over it as if it was an uninteresting newspaper. By just running my eyes over it, it made sence since it must been a different part of the brain prosessing the stream of letters/words.

Though, I wonder how it is to learn a new language if they **** it up like this...

Oh, and your secret code Smilodon "Tsheg hsyt I hsyets mshdee hipoetur sdereewsa qiuposed ot ni fert ese gnupp
