"Steam Is Currently Having Trouble Connecting to the Steam Servers" Error - 15/12/06
There is currently a wide spread power outage in Bellevue/Seattle impacting Steam Server availability. Unfortunately ETA for when the power will be restored is unknown as the power company will only work on restoring it once the storm has eased and the high winds have died down.
Any issues you are experiencing with connecting to Steam are only temporary, as this isn't an end-user issue.
Please check this Forum (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14) or Steam News (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=news) for further updates.

QuoteFallen trees and the wind cut electricity throughout the Seattle area

Seattle Times staff reporter

Puget Sound Energy reported 700,000 customers without power, with the vast majority of the outages occuring in King County, said spokeswoman Dorothy Bracken. In addition to most Eastside cities, Bracken said "all of Whidbey Island is without power." The outages represent about two-thirds of PSE customers, she said.
In Seattle, City Light crews are working to re-establish power to roughly 153,000 residences and businesses, about half of the utility's customers....cont (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003479272_weboutage15.html)

Well hope there isn't to much damage. But I also would have expected their network to have more reseliance. Imagine the millions of steam games sold that nobody can play. What are they doing with all that money?
maybe we can re-schedule for tomorrow? doesn't have to be 8PM...
